auditioning for Laurey

Hi everyone! I am an 18 year old high soprano wanting to audition for Laurey in my upcoming community theater production! I am not worried about the vocal part of the try-out, because I am a high soprano, very capable of singing the role. I am more concerned about the acting. What should I try to bring the this character at my audition? does anyone have any song suggestions that would really bring out laurey's character?

Thanks!!
Salome

Laurey is a very pert and very fiesty character..witty,intelegent and tough. she is very much like beatrice in Much ado About Nothing.

I suggest a song like Make Believe from Show Boat or Simple JOys of Maidenhood from Camleot to show off your soprano range and still act the hell out of something.

I was also going to suggest "Simple Joys of Maidenhood" from Camelot.

I think "Make Believe" is too wussy of a song for Laurey...but "Simple Joys..." would work great!

If you want something with a bit more range and a LOT more feistiness...look at "Show Me" from MFL...though Laurey really doesn't have to sing up in the rafters at all...

I mentioned make believe becuase of its similarity to out of my dreams.

^But character and ACTING-wise, I think the song itself doesn't show a similarity to Laurey's character...
