Audition songs specifically for little girls?

Hello All,

I'm wondering what your suggestions are for good audition songs for a little girl. She's 10, but looks 7. I'm just looking in general, though her next audition will be for Molly in Annie (or any orphan). It's just that there's not exactly a ton of songs for children in the first place, let alone ones that aren't over done so I'm wondering what your suggestions are, how you feel about songs that aren't typically for children (my daughter has sung "Bigger Isn't Better" and she will probably sing that for the Annie audition). I feel it works for her because she is so small. Anyways!

The typical list of songs for little girls (and all or most are over done) is:
Girl I Mean To Be, Castle on a Cloud, I Want It Now, Maybe, Tomorrow, You're Never Fully Dressed, Big Time, Born To Entertain, My New Philosophy, Getting To Know You, Do-Re-Mi (etc. from Sound of Music), Dites Moi, Wells Fargo Wagon, Gary Indiana, Consider Yourself, Let Me Entertain You, did I leave any out? Wink

Hmm, children's songs that come to mind are;

"Doing What Comes Natr'lly" from Annie Get Your Gun
"Round-Shouldered Man" from The Secret Garden

"I Know Things Now" from Into the Woods could work for a little girl, as would most Disney songs

Oh, and there's also a version of "Broadway Baby" from Follies, I know I saw it on Youtube, of Daisy Eagan singing it, and it's adorable for a young girl.

Sorry if I haven't been much help Confused

Another good obscure one is "Once Upon a Time" from Brooklyn, and it's not all that complicated. . . might need to be transposed down though.

"Anything's Possible" from Seussical is a good kid's song, especially for those kids that can't quite hit the higher notes in a lot of children's songs- but it isn't right for a Molly audition.

I have thought of It's Possible because it's fairly new (in the grand scheme of things) and probably not too overdone, but I really am not too fond of Round Shouldered Man. Doin' What Comes Natr'lly can be fun, but it's such a character specific song (in my opinion) I could only see her singing it if she were auditioning for Mary Rogers or unless asked to sing from the score for Annie Get Your Gun. Once Upon A Time I'm not familiar with, so I'll have to look it up.

Thank you for the suggestions!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing more if any are posted Smile
