Audition song for RumpleteazerHey there ...
Do any of you have suggestions on a song to sing for a CATS audition if I would like to be cast as Rumpleteazer? I'm 16, but tall for my age ... this is only Community Theatre, and I'm pretty sure I could get the role. I have a pretty good belt and can sing anywhere from alto2 to soprano1 ... range isn't the issue.
Since Rumpleteazer is a sassy, mischevous character ... I'm trying to find a song that showcases "her" kind of personality. Do yall have any suggestions?
Thanks so so so much ...

When I did Cats last summer, the girl that got Rumple sang "Hopelessly Devoted to You" from Grease.
I didn't think it was Rumple-ish but whatever. xD
Good luck!

How about "Mack the Knife" sung buy Ella Fitzgerald or is it another famous blues singer who sings that song?

If you want something from traditional musical theatre rep, how about "I Cain't Say No" from Oklahoma? I think it's about the right vocal range, and the character is similar - cute, cheeky, bouncy, fun!

Rumpleteazer is the bouncy, at times boisterious female character role of the show. Anything like...Kristin Chenoweth would work. Try "My New Philosophy" from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown!

Thanks so much, you guys! I'm looking into several of your suggestions ... you've definitely given me some good leads!
What do you think of "Good Morning Baltimore" from Hairspray ... it seems to be the same "bouncy, fun" character ... do you think it will work?
Thanks again!

You could maybe do "Mama I'm a Big Girl Now" from the same show if you wanted to.
