Audition Ideas Anyon?My high school is doing ITW, and the two parts I would be most pleased with are The Witch and LRRH. Now I am stuck between 2 songs one for the witch and one for LR. But I am not sure if there is an inbetween song! Then i need a monologuefor either one. I looked at the CoatHanger Monologue from YAGMCB. I still need a bit of help!! I am about 5'3" and I have a fairly wide range. I am only a junior so the Bakers wife and Cinderella have not technically been cast but the whole school knows who it goes to(i really dont have much interest with those parts anyways...but i'll take what i can get) Any help is welcome!
thanks =)

More infomation would be nice.
My New Philosphy is often done for Red.
Are you allowed to do songs from the show?
As for Cindy and BW, they are fantastic roles, so don't be quick to write them off. There was a reason why Joanna Gleason won the Tony for Best Actress as the Baker's Wife over Bernadette Peters(she played the Witch).

It isn't specified that we arent allowed to sing a song from the show, but it is frowned upon. The songs i have chosen so far are between A Change in Me, I want it Now, and Notice Me Horton, but i could be totally off track with these and go a completely different route too.

Notice Me Horton-I'd say no, because it has a poppish feel to it.
I want it now-from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Red? Nice choice. It suits her well.
A Change in Me-for who? I'm going to say no on this one.

Do you have any recommendations for a song for the witch?

I'm thinking....I'm going to get back to you on that. Salome might know a good Sondheim song for the Witch, she knows her Sondheim WAY better than I do. PM her and see if she has any ideas while I go ponder.

It's a little harder with the Witch because there are not many characters like her...if you wanted to do a non-Sondheim song you could look at "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from Little Mermaid-- yes, it's Disney- but you will get the point across...
If you really wanna stick with a Sondheim you might look at one of Rose's songs from Gypsy (the whole Mother thing is there with that) perhaps "Everything's Coming Up Roses" or "Some People"...vocally you could also look at "There Won't Be Trumpets" from Anyone Can Whistle (note these are all good songs for the Witch's range because all of these roles were played by Bernadette Peters...though it's not the only reason I suggest them.)
Those are some suggestions...I'll try and think of a few more...
