Hello all!

A local professional theatre has recently announced that they will be producing "Into the Woods" next summer. I have always wanted to play Jack and even had a chance to audition for the role on Broadway when I was 15 (in the revival). Now I am 20, and I would love to play the part. The theatre is quite selective - I have auditioned there before and been called back, but was never cast. Most of the shows have age restricitons on them (i.e. when I auditioned before you had to be at least 18, and this past year you had to be at least 20). I pretty much know that they are going to get someone with a degree in theatre to play the part of the Baker, so I am mainly going for the part of Jack. The problem is that, while I can play young, I am quite tall, and I feel that I really have to blow them away at the audition and then nail a callback to land the role. I am having a hard time picking a song (not from ITW) that really suits Jack. I think the best thing I have come up with is "Corner of the Sky" from Pippin. It kind of reminds me of "Giants in the Sky" a bit. Any advice? Should I try to go for another role since I am so tall? I think a lot of physical comedy could be done if Jack were really tall and his mother really short - how can I bring this idea across in my audition?

Corner of the Sky is the song that EVERYONE uses for Jack...this is largly because its a good Jack-ish song, but you should realize if you really want to stand out you should prolly go for something that is less likely to be done by others.

I would think a great song to really blow them away, if you can sing it well, would be Lost in the Wilderness. Look into it, if you don't know it or have access to a copy PM me.
