Audition Help

Usually, I know exactly what song to sing at audition, but this time I don't! My school's spring musical will be Bye Bye Birdie and auditions are in the first week of January. I'm trying for Hugo Peabody or Mr. MacAffee. What songs would you suggest for an audition? I am a baritone. Also: There are no acting auditions Shocked so I need a song that has lots of character.

EDIT: Since I'm not too familar with Bye Bye Birdie, what other musicals are similar in musical style?

What do you guys think about doing a song from Hairspray? I haven't seen it in about 2 years, but I remember the music being very up-beat and 60's. I don't really remember it very well so I wouldn't know what song to do.

I dont think Hugo sings at all............ Mr.Mc has a couple solos though

for him, I would go with another father character if possible......but I'm not real great with musicals from that decade- sorry!

but good luck on your audition Smile

Thank you. Yeah, Hugo doesn't sing, which is why not doing acting auditions would make it hard to do an audition geared towards Hugo. Does that make sense?

Sing "It Takes Two" from Hairspray so you get can in Hugo, Albert, andConrad (I know you didn't ask for a Conrad/Albert song but the song pulls out both of those charcters)
Your not going to find a song that fits both Hugo and Mr. Macafee in because they are such diffrent charcters.
But if I had to chose a song for Mr. Macafee I would go with "If I were a Richman" from "Fiddler on the Roof"

I think I'll go with "It Takes Two" from Hairspray. Thanks, all!
Would anybody happen to have the Hairspray soundtrack or sheet music to the song?
Sweeney Todd

I second "It Takes Two". Go for it. Cute song.
