Audition Help...

Our HS is doing B and the B for our Spring Musical. I am a lowly freshman. I also really, really want the part of Babette, or as I like to say, "I'm auditioning for the part of a dustmop!" What do I do to get the part?

If you have the voice range for Babette, I would say try to find an audition song that really fits her. You know, flirty and vivacious and kind of bubbly. Maybe " I Enjoy Being A Girl" from Flower Drum Song? I think that would be an excellent song for Babette.
Hope I helped!

Well...what is the note range for the part? I have a pretty significant range. I was also thinking Popular, but I do love Flower Drum Song...Thanks, Singer! Razz

Any ideas for a monologue?

I always suggest "Always True To You" from Kiss Me Kate as an audition song for Babette. There's a verse that has a little french in it too and its very flirtatious and very Babette-y. There are many threads on Babette auditions so poke around alittle. And like someone said...don't sing Popular...you want to stand out and songs from Wicked are soooo overdone(although I did sing The Wizard and I for my Beauty and the Beast audition...but regret it...it wasn't a bad song to sing...just at least 5 other girls sang it too...) good luck!

Ha, you you did see my lil avatar/username/obsession...I know Wicked is overdone. I wouldn't sing Popular because even though I love the song dearly, there are a few notes that aren't refined yet with my style and that could cost me for the show. Actually, I don't need a song because our teacher insists we do either "My Country Tis of Thee" in a B flat key or "America The Beautiful" in a D flat. What I really need is a good monologue that I have to have down pat by my date. See, the only problem is that we really value our Seniors here and I'm afraid that there's so many other people vying for the part. I mean, if it really comes down to raw talent and we're all equally matched, seniority wins. It's fair and all, but frankly, if it's that brutal, I'd be happy to just get in at all.

(But that doesn't mean I won't try, right?)

GUYZZZZZZ!!! So excited. I just auditioned yesterday and I was mucho excited but I felt bad at the same time because everyone (including seniors) was ringing their hands and fretting their heads off and there's ME just sitting there looking at them and drinking a soda. I should have been petrified, but I guess it's because I've been in so many shows before.

I really want LeFou or Babette, but I went in there goin' broke. I'm happy if I make it in the show, and if I don't; there's always stage crew.
