Audition help - ASAP!!

(I figured this would be more read in this forum rather than the Audition one, but I'll put it over there as well.)

So, Saturday I have auditions for a summer production of Sweeney Todd (not sure if it's the school edition or not, I'm assuming so as it's being performed at a high school). I think I'm going to go for Johanna - I don't know much about the show at all but my friend that's very familiar with it said I'd be good for the role.

I'm 5'5", relitavely slender, long dark brown hair, very pale skin, age range from around 16 to 20. (Here's my twitter picture.)I'm technically a soprano - I can belt up to the C above middle C, but can sing legit soprano up to the E two octaves above middle C.

Do you think I'd fit in as Johanna? Also, this theatre accepts auditions from the class of 2013 through the class of 2009. I'm class of 2011 - going to be a junior next year. I'm probably just going to sing the last verse of 'On My Own', simply because I don't have the time to properly prepare another song.

PLEASE let me know ASAP!! Very Happy I only have a few days... thank you![/url]

Well, if you're going for Johanna, I would definitely NOT sing "On My Own." Choose something that shows off your high soprano because the role requires absolutely no belt. To be honest, I think you are a better fit for the Beggar Woman, especially if it's the student edition. It is a bit hard to tell from your description though.

Since you know Les Miserables, "In My Life" is a better choice to indicate Johanna. "On My Own" doesn't really show vocal qualities or character traits of any character in Sweeney.

Agreed. Cosette and Johanna are basically the same character.
