Audition for the Wiz on FridayHello all! I've got an audition for The Wiz on Friday. I'm planning to go for the part of Dorothy. I'm 19, 5'2, long brown hair and brown eyes. I'm a junior voice major at a conservatory in chicago. Can sing many styles. Classical/ Broadway/ Jazz /Pop. I was wondering if you guys have any good audition song suggestions- I get 32 bars.
I was thinking maybe the ending of "The Fire w/in Me" from Little Women. The part that starts w/ "Everything I promised them is here..." or maybe part of "Gimme, Gimme" from Millie. What do you think? I want all the suggestions I can get!

now i'm thinking part of "still hurting" from last 5 years because i sang it in a musical revue and the piece really fits my voice. Anyone? Ideas?

no millie, no millie, no millie. it's been so overdone lately. i think the last five years is a nice choice. lots of people don't know it or haven't heard it, and it has that lost quality that dorothy should have. "home" from beauty and the beast may be good for you too.

Do you have the sheet music to "The Fire Within me" ?
I would seriously love you forever if there was a way you could send that to me.
I've been searching EVERYWHERE for that song.
But, I'm not sure if it fits well for Dorothy.
I think last five years is a great choice. it's contemporary, but not yet overdone, and if the song sits well in your voice and you're comfortable, you're bound to do well in the audition.

Well, I got the role! I sang "Still Hurting", and apparently they must have like it because I'm going to be Dorothy! Thanks, all for your suggestions!
As far as the sheet music for "the fire w/in me", it should be pretty easy to find. just look for the little women vocal book- you can find it at sheetmusicplus.com.
