Audition for Anything Goes!Ok so i have an audition in January for anything goes but i'm starting to prepare now. What would be a good audition song for that show for a mezzo? I'm pretty decent at dancing and i have a decent belt and excellent soprano.
Also, the last 2 shows i've auditioned for i haven't gotten into. I always get nervous and my mouth dries before and audition. Any advice??
p.s. the directors for anything goes were just the directors for one of the shows i was cut from.

Cole Porter was the composer of the songs used in Anything Goes, so look at his other stuff. He also did Kiss Me Kate. Or, you could look at popular standards from the time period (1920s, 30s).
As for the mouth drying thing, it may help if you have some water right before you sing your song. I've heard some people bring warm tea to sip.

I would check out Porter's other shows and sing a belt song and a more legit, soprano-y song. So first, go find as many other Porter shows as you can. Then read the show synposises (synopsis plural - whatever that word is!) and see if there are any characters in his other shows that are similar to the characters in Anything Goes that you're aiming for. (Anyone similar to Hope? Reno? Mrs. Harcourt? Etc?) If you find a similar character in another show, definitely use one of her songs. (If you need a site to find show synposes, use mtishows.com)
So start there. Post again and tell us which Porter shows you've found, and if any of those characters are similar to the Anything Goes characters.

Are you looking to play Bonnie, Hope, or Reno? I can try to remember the songs that the people who got those roles at my school used.

I'm thinking about Bonnie. Or a smaller character.

Oh I'm preparing for Anything Goes auditions too, but I don't have a clue what it's about! Can anyone tell me anything about the female parts?

Bonnie - the girlfriend of a wanted criminal, attractice but not so bright - mezzo soprano/alto
Hope - the girl who is going to be married to Lord Evelyn because of his social status, not love. She seems sweet and inocent but she isn't always with Billy - soprano
Reno - a sexy nightclub singer and former evangelist - mezzo soprano/alto

Ooh thankies! I think I'll either go for Bonnie or Reno then.
