audition for a rather eclectic season

I have a general audition for a semi-professional theatre's upcoming season. This is the group I just did Urinetown with, so I think I have a decent chance of getting cast.

Here's the dilemma -- the two musicals in the season are Bat Boy, and HMS Pinafore. About as far apart in musical style as you can get, and still call it "musical theatre". I'm actually much more interested in Bat Boy, but due to my classical background and all the G&S on my resume, probably have a better chance at Pinafore (despite the fact that I don't care for the show, I've done it 3 times).

Is there any possible way that one 16-bar cut of a song could provide a decent audition for both the roles of Meredith Parker and Little Buttercup? Or should I just pick a favorite mezzo showcasing piece, and hope that's enough to get me into callbacks, where I can really show what I can do?

Thoughts?

I say if you've already done the show three times and don't really care for it, then go for Bat Boy. If they've worked with you in the past they know what you are capable of. Then you'll be able to focus your audition to something you're really passionate about.
