Audition coming up

I am going to audition for The Sound Of Music at a local dinner theatre in Montana. I am 13 , but am only 4'9" and weigh about only 85llbs. I was thinking about going for Brigitta, but if they think I am too old I may go for Louisa. My picture is in the avatar. Taking in consideration my size what part would you go for?

You'd probably be able to pass for Brigitta but do you know if there are kids around that age auditioning? If possible, maybe write down both roles. From my memory, they are similar parts, but I have only seen the movie years ago maybe when I was like 8 so I don't really remember. Sorry.

I not sure except for the one girl who plays Molly in the show Annie I am doing now is also audition, but she is auditioning for Gretl and she is younger then me. I will go in prepared to read for both and see what happens.

Brigitta is a way bigger part. She has a ton more lines. Her and Liesl are really the only main von Trapp children. The rest have few lines here and there.

I'd say you could try to Brigitta. Our Brigitta was taller then you and was also 13. You should be fine. If they don't see you as that part then let them suggest you audition for another child. But I would try for Brigitta first.

Yeah, you seem the perfect height for Brigitta. Very Happy I say you try out for her!

I decided on Brigitta. The audition is this Wednesday. I really hope I get this because it will be my last show in Montana before we move to NYC.

Good luck! Wink

I had my audition for Brigitta tonight and everything went real well. I sang "Castle On A Cloud" and that went well to. I could here back as early as tomorrow or no later than Friday.

Good Luck sweetheart! I hope your audition was a success and that you are chosen for the role. Based upon your user pic on here, you'd be an adorable Brigitta.

YEAH!!!!! I just got the call from the director and I got the part of Brigitta. I am sooooooooooo excited I just wanna scream AHHHHHHHHHHHH. Our first rehearsal is next Thursday and I can't wait to meet the cast. Mr. Green

^YAY!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!

She is one of my favorite Von Trapp kids!

She even gets an extra scene with Maria! The thing I really love about her is that she's very straight-forward, yet innocent...She observes and notices EVERYTHING!

Just wanted to let you all know why I haven't been on in a while. I have recently dropped out Sound Of Music. I am finally after sevral weeks to be able to bring this out on here. Several weeks ago the director asked me to stay after rehearsal because he was Directing a review that needed a Annie and he wanted me to sing for him some of Annies songs. So when the rest of the cast left he came onto stage and asked me to sing Tomorrow I sang about two lines and he stopped me. Then he came real close to me and hugged me and started to force himself on me. I didn't know what to do. I began to cry. If it wasn't for the stage manager forgetting something and coming back and seeing what was happening he would have raped me. It has taken me quite a while to get to this point to explain this. The director is currently behind bars waiting trial. He was replaced by another director, but I just couldn't continue the show.

That terrible hun! Hope you are okay! People like that deserve to be locked away! <3

Wow...I don't even know what to say... Shocked

That is beyond terrible and I hope that you are able to get some professional help to get you through this. You can't carry that burden alone and I think a therapist would be able to help you a lot, if you don't have one already.

Now, I'm sure your parents have told you this already, but NEVER EVER put yourself in a situation where it's just you and one adult...Even if it's the lure of an audition opportunity, there should ALWAYS be at least the musical director, the director, cast members, etc. there OR AROUND the area when you are auditioning.

I'm really glad that fate was on your side and that the stage manager came back. Hopefully, that sicko will be behind bars for a long time!
