audition/casting confusion!

sorry if this is in the wrong place...I couldn't think of where it would fir the best!

anyway...

I auditioned for High School Musical back in September with one of my friends...and was told that I had a callback for Gabriella/Sharpay..and he had a callback for Troy.....

well now it's january and there's still no word on the cast list....my friend has gone to a few callbacks but he's said that it was only guys...it seems like the woman directing it is really looking for a boy.....I
ve mentioned a few things to her..and she says she hasn't moved forward because she doesn't know the dates

this woman is a lot of fun and would be a great director....but I am worried that she has forgotten me ( I know she's trying to fill in some of the roles with her voice students...ex/Sharpay and some featured ensemble) and I know there was one girl she wanted for Gabriella (but since this girl has been playing gabriella with another company the girl told me she didn't want to do teh role again)

anyway... I don't know what to do in a situation like this...should I just give up...or should I keep in contact with the director and maybe sing for her more (she does a lot of benefits including a disney one that I hope to be a part of)

has anyone ever been in a puzzle like this?

any help would be appreciated. thanks

i would assume she hasnt had anymore callbacks for ladies because she already has the roles cast. She probably didn't forget you, she made notes on your sheet at your call back im sure. Sometimes it is hard to cast a show when you just cant find that leading role. If you want to email her/call her go ahead, but be careful not to be pushy! Just ask if the show is still going on stuf like that... dont ask about the cast list because i dont think anything annoys a director more!

If this is a true statement, then the problem is she does not have the rights to do the show yet. When you submit for the rights you have to knwo the dates. SO maybe she is puttig it off till they cann afford the rates. I would se eno problem asking her straight out if you are still being considered. It is only fair. And as fun as she might be, this situation seems a little crappy and suspicious to me. But I think it would be totally ok to ask her, honestly am I still being considered or can i go audition for something else. This kinda puts teh heat on her (mentioning audiitoning somewhere else) plus you'll know either way.
