Audition Advice

I just recently found out that my high school is doing Into the Woods in a few months. I'm a senior, and extremely familiar with Sondheim's music, which is probably more than what most of the people in my school's theatre department can say. However, while I am very familiar with the show, I'm not entirely sure what part I should audition for.

I have long straight blonde hair, brown eyes, and I'm very petite (5'0) with a small figure. I'm a strong actress, and I enjoy performing comedic roles. My vocal range is pretty wide, from F3-Eb6. I'm particularly known in school for doing belt parts, as my belt voice can go pretty high, but I also have a legit soprano side to me (I've done "Glitter and Be Gay" for charity concerts and recitals). Any ideas?

Considering your appearance and belt, you sound like Little Red Riding Hood. However, you also sound like the Witch or Cinderella. All of the mentioned are either leading or big supporting parts.

You also mentioned that you have a legit Soprano voice and like playing comedic roles, so maybe you should look into playing Rapunzel? She's not a big part, but she has her moments. Especially if the song "Our Little World" is included.

Best of luck to you on your eventual audition. Smile

Little Red RidingHood
Rapunzel
Baker's Wife is a possibility with your acting skills
Cinderella
Witch

By the sounds of it, you have a very decent chance at some of the best roles in this show. Break a leg at your audition!
