The vocals are pretty good, but their mannerisms are a bit annoying. And I'm not sure how the top hat & tails fits with a song about a cat (an evil, nasty cat at that).

Bloody hell! I have to agree, their mannerisms are get very annoying, and it seems a bit wrong that theyre smiling all the time, like a its a laugh. Yes, some may find the whole bad boy thing a bit of a turn on, but the song isnt designed to do that.
It also seemed that they had the video version of the song in their heads. sometimes, the way they sang it was very strongly from the film (only just slightly altered), and they seemed a little bit lost in terms of movements, like theyd watched the Cats routine too many times, and couldnt get it out of their head whilst they had to stand still. or try to. I thought the routine in the background was very interesting- if we ever got to see it. it looked a bit mechanical, but it looked well put together. I found the high pitched squeek very ammusing, but then it became highly irritating the second time. but i did like the different tune they used at the end- very effective. Well, you win some, you lose some. Very interesting vid, thanks so much for sharing! |

Yeah! I totally thought that too...put me in mind of the vid when I watched it Talking about the mannerisms....I just hate the bit when she pulls down her hat...don't know why lol. |

I thought it was very good!

It was pretty good, if you look at it objectively. I was looking at it from the perspective of the vidoe Macavity song, which like i said, i think they were basing it on slightly. It was mostly the mannerisms and their expressions which mostly let it down for me.

I quite think it's a good representation of the song. I think the mannerisms (most of them) are quite suiting for the song, and I think the costumes suit the style of the song quite well.

I liked it, but I kept expecting at least one of them to start dancing to the song. The costumes work with the ganster motif as Macavity is a mob boss in a way. The men in top hats and tails were fun to watch, but they didn't do anything amazing to add to the song, just background image.

Atomic Kitten defenitly sings better than the girl in the above link. She tries to hard to mimic the chereography from the video and the fluffies she has are a bit over the top. Great voice though. |

You have the think that Atomic Kitten was putting on a show for most likely a group of people that aren't going to be familiar with the musical. So if you think of it like that they are pretty good.

yeah lol, neva thought of it like that!
suppose then thinking of it like that...your right! |

Didn't really like the hand motions she did at the start, but the dudes in the while top hats and tails made me happy.

I really liked it. | ||

I barely paid any attention to the men dancing in the background, but I did think that it was sung very well...except that it was lip-synched. Other than that, I think their rendition was very entertaining albiet annoying because you felt like they were going to break out and dance, but never did... |
||
| Pawzxx |
lip synched? Really? god! haha, well whadya know!
| SapphireNight |
Actually, ive just watched it again, and its not so bad. Now i know what to expect, and im not comparing it to any Cats versions, or how it should be performed in Cats, its actually pretty good.
Now, lip synched? i thought that those 'live' things (well it looked like one) wernt commonly lip synched. Typical! If you say so, i trust you... and of course im gonna have to watch it a few more times to see when this word was missed... |

Not bad... and yes, the singing defintely sounded like it was based on the Video version.
About hats and chorepgraphy, after all Macavity is a gangster, and the song is in a kind of jazz-style... reminds of smoky pubs and dark streets in the Twenties... so that kind of clothes somehow worked IMO. But I didn't like the men in the background because of their white clothes. Three years ago I saw a rendition of Macavity sung by six girls all dressed in black, say kinda "Chicago" style... it worked! Swan - Italian Jellicle |

That was actually cute. It was different from the way I remember it though I saw Cats years ago. They have good voices.
edit: did you realize atomic kitten..cats. haha i just realized that. |

They sang this in a concert called 'Showtime At The Stadium' in about 2002, it was a huge concert put on at the Cardiff Millenium Stadium to celebrate the musicals, dozens and dozens of west end stars and popstars took part, it was a really big event!
but yes, I remember when it was first aired, my jaw dropped as I really don't like Atomic Kitten at all. Shame!lol! |

Well, I thought they did a good job.. but the girl in the silvery hat annoyed me. She did stupid head movements and seemed a bit.. cheaper than the others.

Oh dear... i never liked them when they were together i still dont like them now! Why were they putting on accents for the talking bits... they're from Liverpool, well two of them are not sure if Jenny is. |
