At schools!A local school by where I live is one of the six experimental versions that they are doing to see if they are going to let it up for roylaties for everyone. Its the second school to do it!They bought a 600 pound chandlier, costumes that are almost exact and a bunch of other huge set pieces. I dont get to see it until next Saturday, but I will report back with some news about it. If you live in the Dallas Ft. Worth area in Texas, it's at Caroll High School in Southlake. |

I would love to do it, now that I can hit the notes. I can totally imagine my school doing a minimalist verison(without all the Broadway big huge special effects) for my senior year.
I think I will start mentally casting people in my head for this show now.... |

Interesting. Webber. My high school was going to do a production of Webber's Phantom, but when our director contacted the company, we were informed that we were too close to Broadway to produce it, and our production could decrease Broadway's sale of tickets.
Don't ask me how that works. We're over three hours from the blasted city. |

The rights aren't available for the show to be licensed at all--to anyone. These six schools are test sites so that when R&H and RUG decide to release the rights, they'll have a sense of what amateur groups can do with the show. |

Fairfield High School (which is in the small city next to MY city) is another of these experimental schools. Each of our schools have auditions the same day (they = POTO, we = Joseph), but our show will be in February, whereas there's will be in April. I guess they need plenty of time to practice =D

Cool! Are there videos?
| rytoast25 |
i would have made videos and i even brought the camera but they had police in the house so that if they saw people with cameras they would confiscate them and i would have had to pay a fine.

I have a question for someone who was in/saw one of the high school productions.
My school is one of the other schools doing it and I'm in the ensemble. Now, someone told me that the ensemble is NOT the opera singers and NOT the ballet dancers. So we're in...? We have specific featured ballet dancers and featured opera singers. I know Masquerade, but I'm a little confused. I'll admit I've never seen the stage version, and that may be the cause of my confusion, I had just always assumed everyone doubled, extra dancers, singers, backup, etc, so, idk, kinda rambling now, just help please! |

Are schools provided w/ a orchestral track for the title song (because of all the smoke I don't see how the real orchestra could get through it) what about the overture as well?
| Emilala |
At BW, we were provided with the organ click tracks that are used for the overture and the title song. In the Broadway show, the orchestra plays with the recorded organ, and that's how it was done at BW as well. R&H Theatricals provided the same click tracks that are used on Broadway, and I believe they were provided for all the schools.

Can someone give a more detailed account of the shows? What's different, etc... |
