Favorite Actor/Actress : Good old Spy Daddy himself, Victor Garber. Go to the scene with Booth and Lee Oswald on the OCR. The man is simply awesome.

Assassins

Favourite Song: "Unworthy of Your Love".
Favourite Character: Sara Jane Moore.
Revival or Original: Not having seen either, I can only offer and opinion on the recordings. The original recording is generally better sung and offers some beautifully pitched characterisations. The revival, more broad in its style, offers an exciting set of orchestrations and an excellent performance by Neil Patrick Harris. He is matched by several members of the cast but the ensmble is less uniformly successful in their performances than on the earlier disc.

Part You'd Want to Play: Balladeer.
Least Favorite Song: I think that "Something Just Broke" is a fine song but in a theatrical/dramatic context, it is a little bit too much like the extended "moral sequence" at the end of Into the Woods. On the plus side, I think it does make the show accessible to a wider audience by making a more obvious connection between general human impression of assassinations and the commentary in the show. And I think that giving people a "way in" to Sondheim is a pretty good thing - particularly when, as in this case, the song doesn't really harm the production as a whole.

Least Favorite Song : Probably something just broke, but I don't think its bad. As far as whether or not it should be in the show, its seems to glorify the Kennedy assassination a little too much, which seems to be totally opposite from the rest of the show, but maybe that's the point. I think its probably better without, but if a director can make it work, why not?
