Arts 4 Christ

Hi everyone! I've just finished with a brand new website. Personally, the objective is to create a website that can allow people of similar faith in God to share about what Christ is doing in the arts and entertainment industry...and the positive impact.

I'm still working on the main website, but I've managed to put up the forum...well, even if you do not share a common faith, it's alright, we still need you around!

Arts 4 Christ is just an inspiration. Hope to see you there!

I'll check it out, thanks.
MrMusical1982

Interestingly, you know something, that is also one of the reasons that inspired me to include this specific forum in my own forum board for people to crap their stuff there, so they do not end up affecting the other threads.

And for well, threads that look like spamming, I would always move the post to the relevant section, etc. Very Happy

Hey pappycat, where r u from specifically? I'm from Singapore, as in my profile, it's actually morning time right now, just stepped into the office like 30 minutes ago....going to be another busy day at work today...
PappyCat

I'm on West Coast of the United States. It just turned 6pm here! I love how we have so many people from different places here...I don't know much about Singapore. You should educate me sometime!
MrMusical1982

First of all, Singapore is a small little island located in South East Asia, surrounded by large countries like Malaysia, and Indonesia. At present, we have a total population of about 4 million people.

As for theatre arts, Singapore is still at the early stages of growing. Unlike countries like UK and US. We still have much more to learn from all of you.
Chevstriss

I had a friend in the Les Miz tour that went to Singapore in the 90s, and a coupla friends in the My Fair Lady tour that went there around 94.
PappyCat

You guys can argue over PM, if you wish. This topic isn't the place.
Salome

go to sleep pappy we are handling it.
mastachen

What happened to all the posts here?

Did Pappy delete them all? I think she should follow what her predecessors do and encourage us to go on pm while not deleting argumentative comments. I mean, we're all adults/teens here who can think and speak for ourselves. It's not like any of us are in kindergarten. As a mod, your job is to protect us from spammers and mediate arguments only if your assistance is requested. Merely deleting the posts made by people would just make you seem like your waving your mod stick. I know you have the board's best interest at heart but I think you just need to let some things go and let adults and teens be adults and teens.

i agree, i feel that was an incredible abuse of mod power.
Salome

I knew that would happen with her as a mod.
Quique

Pappy, I like you as a regular member, but you're doing exactly what I feared you'd do when I first discovered you would be mod--interpreting everything as abuse and start to boss people around at even the mildest disagreement and censor at the drop of a hat. This is not a good start.
shakalakababy

yeah, i saw these posts bfore they were deleted and nothing was anywhere near bad enough to be deleted
Quique

Deleting of posts is usually rare and only reserved for extreme circumstances.

There was nothing here that warranted a deletion and I fear what this forum is going to be like if there are mods who continue to censor everything that contains the slightest hint of aggression or disagreement.

I concur.

At least wait until after I've read them. Wink

All I said was that he's made nothing but relevant posts and that he was not spam...I don't see why that got deleted?

Perhaps the mod team should review having a "trial" period for mods...

Just a suggestion...
MrMusical1982

Wow, what happened to those posts....lol...anyway, personally, I thought those posts were alright...it's just each individuals different thoughts and perspective. Which makes us different and unique, which is good.

Only when different minds and characters come together, that is where ideas and inspirations form. Well...think pappycat is just doing what she felt was right. Think she's a new mod right....well...it happens sometimes...for new mods...

I made some early presumptions as a new forum moderator in the Singapore Theatre Guide forum as well...
Trevor reincarnate

Remember when I expressed my worry about one of the new mods? I was talking about Pappy. And this is exactly what I was worried about.

What are you going to do? Delete this too?
PappyCat

Okay, Woah!

I split the thread and removed the pointless arguement. I did it so that the topic could stay on track, and to avoid arguements.

Obviously, It was the wrong choice and didn't work, and I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that the posts I moved were breaking rules. But abuse of power? That's a pretty loaded accusation.
Trevor reincarnate

EponineMNFF

I think we're all overreacting just a bit to the deletion of a few posts.

Wrong choice, Pappy realizes that, awesome. Problem solved.
Trevor reincarnate

No. The problem is not solved until Pappy is an ex-mod.
MrMusical1982

relax guys, let's give pappycat a break here...she's new on this...I'm sure she'll get better in future....we all make mistakes and we are always improving. Good thing is, we will improve.

Hey pappycat, dun worrie about it...I hold nothing against what u did...I understand ur good intentions. Smile

I think this thread is going to be sticky soon...lol...(okay, actualli, I dun understand the definition of sticky, what does it mean actually?)
Trevor reincarnate

Obviously you aren't upset. You weren't censored.

I was censored for defending you. Why did I bother? I don't know.

Agreed.

I still wanted to read them though...

Why does this thread deserve to be stickied?

Nah, dun worrie about it man, you can always post them again next time...lol....when there's a chance to do so... Laughing

I think it's a little early to be calling for her to be an ex-mod. I think she just needs to learn that she doesn't need to insert herself into every little disagreement or thread that have wandered off into a different tangent (which is a totally stupid reason to be deleting posts since threads wander all the time), and she'll be fine.

And in order to prevent further problems, threads that have the potential to turn nasty doesn't mean that they will, so there's no need to lock threads that you believe will degrade into a snark-fest before it actually happens.

Oh, you placed it really well...guess that sums up what everyone wants to say here....lol...juz kidding...anyway....for arts4christ, I'm still thinking of registering another domain name just for it....not sure if it can happen...need to check with my web hosting provider....you noe...to make it like www.arts4christ.com or something....keep the url short and easy to remember...

Where did my perfectly polite and quite amusing post go? Is humour and peace making now banned on MDN?

Go on, delete this...I don't really care as I won't be returning...
PappyCat

Okay, Seriously, you guys are acting like I went on a post deleting angry rampage. I didn't come into the topic laughing maniacally bursting with joy at the thought of deleting all your posts. I simply thought "Hey, this thread got completely derailed, I'll just removed these posts that contribute to that." And I moved the posts that weren't about the original topic.

I made a mistake. I admitted to the error, and apologized. I was taking a break from working on my theatre history project and skimming through MDN. I wasn't being malicious. It's being blown way out of proportion and making me seem evil. People who didn't even read the original thread are commenting like they know what happened.

And no, I'm not going to quit being a mod. If I quit every job I've had after I make a mistake, than I'd never stay employed. Live it, learn it.

Too bad all Christians don't think that way. I just wanted to say that.

As for deleted threads, who really cares? Really.

It's not important, anyway. I think you guys are throwing hissy-fits over nothing. For those people who have threatened to leave because of this: go to bed.

Andy.
Chevstriss

thread jacking shouldn't be grounds for deletion.

alls I'm saying

otherwise I wouldn't be able to turn every thread into a thread about Marjoe.

Quique

^ XD

Pappy, just know that deleting posts is not something mods typically do to curb minor disagreements and hostility. I think the last time posts were deleted was almost a year ago. When they are deleted for the wrong reasons, people are left feeling like they don't have a voice and it's the equivalent of putting your hand over someone's mouth.

But anyway, she recognized her mistake and I don't think there is need to ask her to step down people (dramatic much?). I think we can move on now.
Trevor reincarnate

It'll just keep happening.
mezzo_soprano

She said she made a mistake, she said she was sorry, can we stop harping on her?
Trevor reincarnate

"Sorry" doesn't fix anything.
"Sorry" just says "I made a mistake and now YOU have to deal with the consequences."
"Sorry" is the same as saying "I made a mistake... But I'm not going to do anything about it to fix it... So you're still screwed over..."

What consequences? People can't read a few posts? Most of the original posters don't seem that upset. It really isn't that big of a deal. Apologizing is perfectly fine in fairly inconsequential things like this.

Especially when almost everybody seems perfectly okay with it.
