If you want to try out for a guys part, play Noah Claypole...he has no solos, if youre that worried about your voice. If you want to do a s part, do the little sister of Bill sykes friend...sorry the name is slipping my mind some....but those are good parts if you don't want solos. ummm...it's a great show though!!! Good luck!
Oh for the audition too...if that's what u were talking about. If you know any songs from Rent, id do a solo from that. or if you don't and know someting from Wicked, do something from that. But even if you try out for a guys part, audition with a s song. Directors like authenticity to a persons nature and gender.
once again... Good luck!

Is it a youth production or adult?
There are some good female parts --
Nancy is the lead, in her 20's, big alto belting songs
Bet is her friend, is supposed to be 13, but is usually cast in her young 20's, has no lines, but lots of singing and stage time.
Charlotte is the daughter of the undertakers, she has no songs, but has a couple scenes near the beginning. She gets to flirt with Noah and is mean to Oliver.
Widow Corney is an older woman who flirts with and then marries Mr. Bumble, she has a couple fun songs.
Mrs. Sowerberry is the undertaker's wife, they sing a fun song together.
There is the rose seller, strawberry seller, etc., who sing in Who Will Buy, and sing wonderful harmonies.
Then there are the Fagin Boys, who are often played by girls. They have few lines, but lots of stage time, good songs, great dancing.
Sometimes Oliver is played by a girl (my daughter played him when she was 10), and sometimes Dodger can be played by a girl. both have lots of stage time and some really good songs.
Good luck.
