Anything Goes for Americans?

Do you think thios show should only be done by Americans, like not by law, but just like you know "Dreamgirls" just isn't right with a white cast. I don't really think so, but I do think that if you're in the show you have to deeply understand American culture, because when i saw this clip of the London 80's revival it just did not seem right.

I'm not tryibng to offend anyone with this, and if you are I am deeply sorry.

I think it could be pulled off. Yes...you need to know a lot about American culture, but its really 1930s culture. A lot of people my age, teenagers, don't really know all that much about that time period and end up having to do research to make it believable. And it seems lke this is done in high schools often. With the right information it could be just as good.

I don't think you can really compare knowledge of a period in time to race.

all good points. I'm sure there could be a really good London revival of the show, I think I just didn't like the one in that youtube video.

Also Americans actors have played people of different nationalities and time periods before.

It really wasn't the foreigners playing Americans thing that annoyed me what I didn't like was:

-the set was too minimalistic for a 30's era show
-The arrangement of "Blow Gabriel Blow" was just too bouncy
-The lighting reminded me a little too much of a mega-musical
-Whoever played Evelyn just seemed awkward

Totally. The choreography was all off, and Evelyn just didn't work.
