Anyone love Pacific Overtures???I got ahold of the recording last summer and I've been hopelessly addicted ever since.
Four Black Dragons!!! Spitting Fire!!!! Aaaahhh!!!!!!!!!!!
That show has to be one of the most brilliant musicals ever made. It's a shame that this lost gem doesn't get enough recognition.

I love Pacific Overtures.
But it's rather obvious why it doesn't get put on much:
1. All Male Cast (except maybe "Next"
2. All Male Asian Cast
3. Expensive Costumes and Make-Up
4. Potentially Expensive Sets
5. Fairly Limited Mass Appeal
6. Difficult Sondheim Score
I would like to say, while we're on the topic, that it's script is absolutely fantastic and all too often overlooked.
John Wiedman just writes fantastic scripts.

I have the NBCR. Love it.
Someone In A Tree is the perfect song to dance around to during downtime in rehearsal.

Someone In A Tree is the perfect song to dance around to during downtime in rehearsal. | Get the OBCR. The orchestrations is 32842582798 times better and the sound is more authentic, imo.

You're right.
But in my defense I was crazy tired and a bit loopy after watching "Blazing Saddles."
