Anyone Allergic to Gluton? My roommate is allergic to gluton and Thursday is her birthday. I'd like to make her a cake.
I've been looking for good gluton-free cake recipes. There are a TON on the internet, so finding them isn't hard...But it's such a toss-up on whether the recipe is going to be tasty or not...SO I thought I'd check and see if anyone had a tried-and-true one.
Thanks in advance!

Too true...I have a friend that's allergic to this as well...
It's really difficult to go out to eat with her...she pretty much gets to eat only salads...

My sister is, and my mum just buys gluten free flour and makes a normal cake. Simple cakes are probably your best option and the flour is very light so you might have to add a bit extra butter or something to make it stick.

Heya
im a bit of a lurker on here
this is my first post, yay!
Ive been on a gluten free diet for the past 5/6 years
and to be honest the best cakes i've made have been using a normal cake recipe and then replacing ingredients that have wheat in. so using gluten free flour instead of normal flour etc
GF cakes tend to be a little flat so either adda little extra baking powder or make a sponge cake with layers
if you still want a specifically gluten free recipe then let me know what kind of cake you want to make and im sure i can dig one out
Any other questions, let me know, and ill try to help!
hope this helps!

When they thought my mom was a celiac, she had to eat all kinds of gluten-free stuff for, like, a year, and they have tons of mixes for gluten-free cakes and booked goods at larger grocery stores, usually in the organic aisles.

*raises hand* FINALLY something I can actually help with!!!
There are TONS of recipes on the internet. Failing that, you can always PM me and I'll send you one. What kind of cake does she like? I have heaps of recipes. Because without cake Shelley would go insane.
As a general rule, I find I get better results when I use more than one different gluten-free flour. I don't know why, it just works better.
EDIT: Just realised you already investigated the internet thing. Haha. If you'd like me to send you a recipe just holler

My best friend that's a girl is alergic to gluton (and she's diabetic), but she always steals the end of my Subway.
Anyway, I know that her Mum makes gluton - free chocolate cakes, if you still want, I can get the recipe, but it will probably be too late as today is already Thursday, (for me) and I wont be able to get it for (my) Saturday.
