Any suggestions. I really need some ideas!I was wondering if anyone knew any good audition songs mainly that have a good beginning? The audition song will only be about a minute long so I would need something with a good beginning. I'm an alto, but I am able to reach some of the higher notes. (probably a D at the most.) Any suggestions? Anything will help. If you have a link to the song So i could listen to it. That would make my day.
Also, I'm not a tap dancer. BUT... I did do Irish Step Dancing for about 8 years, and it's pretty close to tap, do you think I would do ok?
Thanks so much. Any more advice would be great.
Also, I'm not planning on trying out for a main role, I'm just trying out and getting what I get since I'm only 15, and almost all the seinors will get the main roles.
THANKS AGAIN!!!!

I used the beginning of "About a Quarter to Nine" from 42nd Street (first 32 or so bars). It does go up to an E a couple of times, though. But I sang that song and got cast as an angel.
As for dancing, you should be fine since you know Irish Step Dancing. I've never done Irish Step Dancing, but I'm assuming that because of that, you're good with rhythm, which is an important part of tap. And how much tap dancing you'll actually be doing varies with each production. Also, I know my directors are fine with none-tap dancers faking some of the more difficult tap steps, as long as it looks likes they're doing the step.
And even if you know the seniors will get the main roles, you can still be ambicious! Be confident with your talent and ability! The director will remember that when you're the senior.
And good luck! Keep us posted! Anything Goes is such a fun musical!
