Yep! I just need to find a box big enough to contain all that gorgeousness.

Just kidding, I personally don't think he's very good-looking (nothing wrong with those who do happen to think so, though!) but he is an AWESOME Tugger!!
Tuggers_Babe

Maybe if I find a box big enough - and trust me I could, maybe you could send John round to mine first so I can parcel him up?????

Just an idea.

^How's about you two shut your fat mouths and leave us alone, eh? The question was successfully answered, that no, most likely there are not any actors from the video. You have not got a thing to whine your faces off about. If Angie and I bother the CATS forum royalty, then maybe their Highnesses should just shove off.

uuummmm ew. #1 never call anything about a dancer 'fat' my mouth is quite slender thank you. #2And leave you alone? hmm funny I dont remember attacking you. We were simply stating.....golly, its like 'why isnt MK and Ashley on myspace' See everything is peaceful and semi mature and then someone goes and gets all gradeschool about it. #3 Chillll dude, its all good, we are having fun and I am not highness but thank you for the compliment, and as far as shoving off, thats not nice. What you dont realize about Smudge and myself and the reason for my comment is that all day (we work together) we have been thinking and saying the same things, so I found it funny that what I 'thought' she wrote. I wasnt 'attacking' I was just laughing about how in tune with eachother we are. So simmah down nah.

and dont say the B word. What message are YOU putting out there?

JemiBoe, there have been instances in the past where fans have have playful discussions like you AngMisto and Tuggers Babe are having. Although we know it's just plain old fun, we know of some definate times when cast members have come to the board, read those conversations and then felt uncomfortable to post...even though we know they were playful, they can still be discomforting. That's all that Smudge and Soloque were trying to say in their erm, not-so-blunt way. Smile

(snore... ) Whazzat?

Apparently, I was informed that I sleep too much when threads like this pop up. Okay... I am awake now... I think...

Although the subject matter of this thread may have been acknowledged to a nomial satisfaction, I am certain there are further elements that can be presented...

Attitude: The way we post our threads may create an environment that is not harmonious to performers of the stage or video recordings.

Accessibility: Not all performers have Internet access while on tour, and therefore cannot contact Forums or fan sites. Other performers may have Internet access, but have learned to avoid fan sites and Forums for one reason or another. We have had performers enter the CATS Forum previously, but have been forced off by the sheer volume of responses, or by the fans... (see Attitude)

Knowledge: Some perfromers have absolutely no knowledge that the Forums and Fan sites exist - either by choice or by lack of exposure to the fan world.

Believability: Some performers have come onto a Forum and have been flamed as being an imposter; and vice versa...

Time: Not all performers have the time (and sometimes the patience) to answer posts, or get involved with fan sites and Forums. Some have put CATS behind them, and have moved on...

MsJellice is probably correct in that the quaint intercourse of certain parts of this thread creates a semi-hostile environment not conductive to performer conversations. The fantasy of "owning" or "capturing" performers have been discussed prior to this thread, and past and present cast members are possibly wary of serious intentions masked by humourous discourse.

However... one can dream... And I believe I shall...

^Maybe I exploded a bit, but really, if Ang and I goof off, which we always do (we wouldn't be as fun if we did not), and it annoys you, just don't bother commenting. The "fun" will fade off. It already has now, so the performers who may be on here don't have to worry about being stolen by scronny teenagers.

And all of you who doubt should know that I never want to start a fight on here. I don't, usually. You all know what I am like. SO I never never never had any hateful intentions. I just don't like being, umm... scolded (?) all the time.
Smudge

Having fun is fine to an extent, but try to think how you would feel should you read something like what you guys were saying about yourselves, from people you've never heard of... You would probably be just the tiniest bit freaked out and get the hell out of there ASAP. Right?

Oy. Well, stepping into their shoes for a sec, I am really imagining that if I were reading something like this, I would be a bit surprised, but certainly not frightened by teenagers... if they were older, that would be a different story.

And I don't need you to explain what is or isn't "creepy" to me. I have a boy who drives his car to my house and waits outside my bedroom window late at night, and another who keeps record of my library transactions so that he can sexually harass me every time I step into the library. How are the performers supposed to know that you guys are teenagers? For that matter, how are any of us to know that you're really teenagers. That's the blessing and the curse of the anonimity the internet provides.

Ok well that was explicit and uncomforting....thank you for the awkward moment. Plus if something like that is going on, you need to alert th police your parents. Restraining Orders are magical Very Happy
SadieCass

Oy. God....I forgot how thick-headed people can be.

Don't worry...never mind the fact that the ACTORS have said it makes them uncomfortable then...just go on doing whatever you want and they'll stay gone forever...lovely...that's precisely why they decided they didnt' need to be here anymore (those that were here...and there were plenty)

Solo, what do YOU know of restraining orders Wink *G* (I could be naughty, but I won't...is not the time or place)
Filakatessa

Gather round kitties, for I have a story for you.

Once, when I was first on this forum, there were many Cats actors that frequented the board. I think BwayMacavity (Keith Wilson) was one of them. He would come in time to time to comment on certain threads, being very helpful in clearing up questions members had and even had some fun in the process. I distinctly remember him posting a thread about back stage behaviour...the do's and don't of waiting for the actors to leave the theatre and for you to talk with them. He was and is a very nice person, especially to devote some time to this forum.

Alas, he left us, and will probably not come back. Aside from his busy schedule, the boards changed. We started getting a lot of younger members, and with the younger members came young and (dare I say it) immature behaviours. This also caused a lot of arguments to rise on the forum because of the immature behaviours on behalf of many parties. It made this forum a place that was difficult to visit (at least for me) because of the incessant bickering.

So, you can probably add this together and realize why cast members probably avoid posting. Can you imagine what would happen if John Partridge actually posted here? First off, no one would believe him and if we did, he's probably be glomped by all his fangirls.

So, ladies and gentlemen, we can have all the fun we want, you just need to be aware of what green or yellow cat eyes might be watching you. What you say can either be uplifiting or destructive. Your choice.

I must say that I sympathize with him, because I have been 'scolded' on fanfiction.net and other sites for expressing my opinions, and it makes me angry, like "Who do these people think they are?" So you guys should just leave them alone. If the performers who read stuff like JemiBoe1981 and AngMisto's conversation, then they'll realise it's just a joke- unless they have no sense of humour. And people who get all nasty and act like they're superior, and try to boss other people around when someone makes the slightest mistake sound like real SNOBS.

le gra go deo,

Performers HAVE read material like this before, and they were/are NOT amused, and did NOT consider things like this a "joke". When you watch the news. some of the performers out there know they have a following. They also know that some of the fans are loyal, and sincere, but they also know there are some zealots who need to have a restraining order against them... There are such things as stalkers. Since the Internet removes both the actual identity of the person, and the context of emotions from the emails and forum entries, they cannot interpret what is a "joke" versus an actual threat.

They were not expressing an opinion...
"Did you know that John is one of my Christmas presents? It's true. Ang is getting him for me", "I trust you are feeding them properly, Angie, I wouldn't want them to lose their muscle."
To me, that's considering someone like a toy or a pet... Honnestly, reading someone I don't know talking like that about me would probably not scare me, but I'd find that complitely stupid and I would never come back on a forum where such things would be said about me. Having such private chats would be okay, but on a public forum... no !

Just like in real life, if you hear someone you've never seen saying something bad about you "as a joke", with lot's of people around listening to him, will you stop and chat nicely with that person ? Personnaly, I'll continue my way and ignore that person...

Jemiboe... you talk about someone standing at your window late at night, and another person harassing you sexually... and you live with that without doing anything ???? That is scary ! Do you realize it can be dangerous ????

(Getting back on topic)
I know a few cast members who will actually tell fans how to act even when they dont think they are acting in an inappropriate manner. You have to remember they are just like anyone else, think about the things that would offend you. I for one would not like someone claiming me, thats kinda creepy. I mean saying someone is hot (like I do with...well with alot of people) is one thing but wanting to put them in a bag and take them home (I know its just playing) is another. We just have to remember to be respectful. And now that I have successfully echoed what everyone else has said, I am going to answer this ringing telephone.

I'd like to add to the love of Rumblepurr, here. I love you, Rumblepurr. Very Happy

Look, nobody's trying to yell at anyone. This board is one of the closer-knit ones around, and the CATS fan community is a very accepting and friendly fandom.

But regardless of whether performers would realize that something said casually is a joke, it's downright disrespectful.

I know that at least one video cast member lurks on this board from time to time, and I would be very ashamed of myself if I posted something about ANY cast member in the vein of 'I'm going to keep him/her for a pet' and he read it.

I'm a teenager, too. That is not, however, an excuse for acting immature. When you're a teenager, it's time to start growing up; especially when your actions might make someone else uncomfortable.

I guess, to sum all that up in one word: Think.

My two cents.

I should really come to this forum more. :-/
Spanish_Rumple

hey how do you know that at least one of the video actors lurks around here?? well in that case... Hello you the one of Macavity/Plato, and of course hello Partridge and hi Jacob brent and of course ...well hi everyone that comes around!!! hehehe

Ok I'm crazy and I've just finished Psychology...hum... Seriously I agree with you. I don't like those crazy chicks that start crying when they have only been touched by one of the actors... they are people like us, normal people. It is just fine to be excited and happy for that but that's all. I mean, we shouldn't let it transform to an obsession, we really have to behave.

Hugs!
AngMisto8182

Okay, I told myself I wouldn't reply to this, but what the hey. I just want to toss in my two cents, see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the link to Carb's site, I had wondered if that info had gotten placed anywhere safe.

And I do believe that this has become a playful joke that has gotten out of hand...

lastly...if you wanted to know about how we know about lurking cast...I'd just ask SadieCass, Soloque and Smudge. They know some of the cast personally and have a lot of wise advice on this topic...

Y'know, my friend tried to get a restraining order on her ex-boyfriend after things got really weird and he showed up at her apartment when she had some friends over and then threatened everyone and wouldn't let anyone leave. She couldn't do so because both of them are underage(she was 17 and he was 16 I think). Crazy, stupid world.

Anyway. Does anyone else remember way back when we "adopted" all those actors and MdN forum members? Someone made banners that said "Purrroud Owner of..." and then it all kind of exploded into a similar situation over how creepy it was to be "owned" on a forum. So, you're not the first ones to do something like this. It's just...once you think about it, it IS a bit stalkerish-sounding. It's the sort of thing that you joke about with your friends, but not on a forum for everyone to see and sometimes misinterpret.
Drumdraper

What really irks me is when the rabid fangirls come out and start crying and screaming whenever they hear something about their favorite actor. The majority of these rabid fangirls have fallen in love with the idea/character the actor played, not the actor himself. By becoming obsessed with the object of desire these fangirls think that they can bring their "love" to life. When they realize the object of their affection does not act like the idea they created in their heads, they can become quite destructive.

But then there are the fans who are just really big fans, but not too the point of obession. I will admit I'm smitten with how Michael Gruber played Munkustrap in the video, and I would like to meet the him. I wouldn't start to scream and cry if I met him after one of his performances. I would complement him on his skills, ask for an autograph is he was willing, tell him I admired his work in Cats, and ask some questions about his career with a blush creeping onto my face.

On an aspect of Fans ettiquette, what about getting a little too enthuastic once the performers start to take their bows and the like? I kind of shouted the characters names as each performer took a bow and cheered quite loudly, much to the annoyance of some people around me. (I didn't think they wanted to mess with someone with electrical wires coming out of her Mistoffoelees jacket). Then I did give Gus a standing ovation and cheered Mistoffelees on after he brought Old Deuternomy back. Butt I was quiet during the other parts of the show, though I tried to grab some streamers off stage after the show (too far too reach). Oh well, sometimes you have to release your inner kitten as long as you keep her under control. *sigh*
