Anthony's singing voice

So would rather hear him as a tenor or a baritone?
missannes

Tenor. Because he's so "TEEHEE" all the time. Better suited to tenors.
WickedToo

Anthony is best as a tenor in my opinion.
Pannic

Baritone.

I've always thought Anthony was more suitable for the tenor voice, but lately, I've been thinking that a baritone voice would suit him just as well, if not better. Of course, not a booming, dark, baritone voice (i.e. Sweeney) but something more lyrical and light...
The Very Angry Woman

Tenor, because after seeing Max von Essen in a baritone role, this was a nice change.
The Russian

The range and tessitura of the role suggest baritone all the way.

Toby, Pirelli, and the beadle are the tenors. The judge is a bass, Todd is a bass-baritone, Johanna is a soprano, Mrs. Lovett is a contralo/mezzo, the crazy woman/Lucy is a mezzo.

Lol. Laughing

But I prefer Barritone.

Funnily, in that performance with Tom Allen as Sweeney, the guy playing Anthony has a deeper voice than Allen.
wolfenflautist

Tenor. It seems more fitting for the role than baritone, in my opinion.

That, of course, needs to be avoided. But I'd say he's better as a baritone. There are enough high males in the show. If a tenor actor is cast, he should have a warmer, more dramatic tessitura. Otherwise he could sound too much like Toby in terms of voice quality.

Basically, I'm just restating that The Russian said.

As an aside, I'd probly end up saying baritone just cause it's 10 years at least before I can play Sweeney, and I haven't the range for any other lead in the show. Wink

Besides, I can't stand how tenors sound on low notes *coughPeron'sLatestFlamecough*.

Baritone. After hearing Davis Gaines in the role, tenor doesn't quite do it for me. (Esp. after hearing Gaines' powerful ending to Johanna.)
musialman

I really like it when he has the typical tennor sound that lovers have in operas
