Another which part thread...So we found out that our middle schools next musical is Once Upon A Mattress and I'm super pumped, I love this show so much. However, I have a dilemma. I would gladly accept any role, but I need to narrow it down.
I have recently played Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast and Mr. Sowerberry in Oliver, which might help you. I would say my strongest talent is acting. My singing is pretty good for our talent pool and I am one of the better male dancers.
I'm thinking maybe the Minstrel or The King, or even Dauntless. Maybe even the Jester, but It will probably be played by a girl in our cast. Harry is out of the question. I don't really fit the role and there is another guy who does perfectly, which i s fine with me.
Which role should I go for?

MY middle school is doing it now also and for you I think you could go for Dauntless and have a good chance of getting it. Our Dauntless is a very good actor but is ok at singing so this is one of the roles that is more cast by your acting. But Good luck and keep us posted!

The Wizard is very much so a Cogsworth like character so you could play him, but he is a smaller role although funny is played well.

My first reaction was Dauntless or the King.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure Im going to start to go for Dauntless or the King. I still have a while until auditions, but starting early will be good for me. Auditions can sometimes get pretty competitive. Once again, thanks for all your help.

I anyone cares anymore I was cast as the Minstrel today. Yeah, I posted this way early... I wanted to be prepared. What really confuses me was that the guy who did get Dauntless has ZERO stage presence. But I guess I can't really complain with the Minstrel. I'm very excited for this show.

That's cool. The minstrel is one of the best male parts in the show.
