Annie's vocal range and look...My school's musical this year is Annie, and I really want the title role. I do have a few questions...
First Annie's range. What is it? I'm a mezzo, but I'm not sure the classification of Annie's part...
And then her look. I'm definitely not skinny, short, palefaced, and redheaded. I'm 14 years old, a size 12, 5'4, black (and so obviously my hair is dark brown). I know that I'm talented enough, but will my look be enough to throw off the audience?Could that hurt my chances of obtaining the role?
Feedback would be GREAT!

I think casting you as Annie would be cool - it'd be nice to have a new take on the part rather than always using clones who look exactly the same. I guess it depends on how open-minded the directors etc are. Especially if you have the talent, they should consider you.
According to Stageagent and miusicaltheatreaudition.com, Annie is a mezzo with a range of A3 to F5, which sounds pretty right to me.

Sadly, I think they are the same as a lot of people's - the reason why I will never get to play them.

Congratulations! If you can, try to record yourself singing "Tomorrow" or "Maybe" so you can post it here!
I saw a production of Annie once with a black Warbucks and anothert production of Annie with a black Miss Hannigan... and the Audra McDonald is Grace in the film so a black Annie isn't too odd.

Oh, quick question...Would you suggest getting a red wig? Some people wnt me to, but I think I'd prefer curling my own hair and keeping my natural color.

I think you shouldn't hide your hair with a wig.  It would look way more natural to just have your hair curled.

^Agreed. I don't think a red wig would look natural. And you don't have to change the way you look; you already got cast, so they must've liked you the way you are. I'd say, don't change anything unless your director asks you to.
