Annie Get Your GunCan anyone tell us about the young female characters? A professional company is going to be doing the show, so it will be adult.
Is Winnie usually played by an adult, since she is 16? We know Annie has several young sisters, do you know the age range? What is involved in their parts?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, Winnie is supposed to be about 16, but most professional theatres cast an actress between the ages of 18-21. I don't know too many rules, but I think the reason is usually because for whatever reason they don't want to/can't cast a minor.

Do you know what Annie's younger sisters do in the show? Do they sing at all?

I believe she has three sisters (between the ages of 8 and 15... their names are... Well, I don't remember their names, but they do end in "ie/ey". They have a few lines throughout and sing in (not solo) "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly", "Moonshine Lullaby", and various other group numbers. I have something that can help you further. PM me.

From what I've seen, Winnie is usually cast as 18-early 20's.
Annie's younger sisters are Minne,Jessie and Nellie ages 15, 11 and 9 respecitvely (I'm almost postive on that age range).

when i was in it a year or so ago, there were three sisters- jessie 13, minnie 10 and nellie 7 if i remember correctly, all of which were played by 12-13 year olds, and we each had a short solo in the reprise of doin' what comes natur'ly, some short group lines in that and moonshine lullaby, and other than that just the ensemble stuff, like sun in the morning.

I've seen the casting for the sisters vary wildly from production to production.
If Annie is tall and relatively mature-looking, her sisters can be played by small adults with more childlike features (they don't have to be played by adults, of course, but there's that option, and it works fine.)
If Annie is short or has younger-looking features herself, children or young teens will be cast.
It just depends what they have in mind for the production, who actually shows up to audition, and who gets cast as Annie. In every production I'm familiar with Annie was cast before the sisters, and then appropriate sisters were picked to compliment her rather than each being picked separately.
I've also usually seen the children sing as a group rather than each having a solo, but it could be broken up either way.
