Annie Audition

My school is doing Annie Jr. next year and I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm doing now.

I'm 13, dark blonde hair/light blue eyes, 4'10, very strong voice, soprano, D3-E6. I can belt up to a C#4 :\ But, my mix is easily mistaken for my belt though, lucky me Very Happy

The director knows me really well & pretty much loves me to death, lol. And for the last play I was the understudy for Alice (well, everyones u/s actually; but thats what it was at first). I'm a pretty versatile actor, but I'm best at funny character roles, and the spunky-yet-loveable type of characters.

Soo, I'm going for Annie because I think I have a pretty good shot at it. But I'd be happy with an orphan, Miss Hannigan, Grace, Star-To-Be, whatever. [:

So, tell me if you think I have a shot and audition song reccomendations would be splendid [:

Right now I'm thinking about The Girl I mean to Be, but I don't know if I should belt/mix it, or sing it in head.

First of all - be very careful with belting. Make sure you have a very good singing teacher to take you through your songs and practice this technique as you are currently in voice break (yup girls get them too Wink). I am not sure if you are too tall for Annie...not that familiar with the height regulations but 4ft10 sounds a tad too tall...but maybe things are different in the Annie Junior version.

Songs - hm I don't think "The girl I mean to be" is quite spunky enough really. How about something from Ruthless? "Amazing Mazie" from Seussical might also work. "I want it now" from Willy Wonka (the original movie) is also suitable. You want to show a strong voice with belt - just make sure it's "supervised". Wink [/quote]

Thank you for the concern about belting, I have an excellent voice teacher who works on belting with me. [:

BTW; This is in a middle school, if it makes a difference.

You sound like you have a good shot at Annie. Good songs I can think of would be
My New Philosophy or Little Known Facts from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
My Friend the Dictionary from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Someone already said Amazing Mayzie
