I can't wait to hear what she does with "Send in the clowns"!
| SmallTownIngenue |
I love Catherine Zeta Jones. And Angela Lansbury. Match made in heaven.
| Yakko |
AND I'M NOT IN NYC FOR THIS?!
| Disney-Bway27 |
That's some great casting right there. I'm getting so excited for these revivals this season!
| Micaela? |
OMG! I love them both! A lot!
And I'm going to be in NY when it's running! Ayieeeeeeee! |
||||
| le_moofin |
I reeeeally wish I could be in NYC to see this!

I can't wait to see this |
||||
| wicked_diva |
Oh my gosh I need to see this. This really will be a wonderful fall for revivals! Between this and Ragtime. Wow.
| Disney-Bway27 |
^ And don't forget Finian's Rainbow! |
||||
| Please,Hello |
Where are the original musicals. Are we stuck with just these revivals.
| Yakko |
The only original musicals nowadays is based on movies. |
||||
| Please,Hello |
Jeez, nowadays it's hard to find a musical I can dig. This year was Story of My Life and N2N. Now what?
| Disney-Bway27 |
They're really not all they're cracked up to be, I promise. Just because musicals are original, doesn't mean they're automatically good. I can think of plenty of sucky original musicals. |

Does anyone really say "soiled" anymore? Lmao. What, are you 80?
Anyways, this is def my favorite Sondheim show. CZJ and Angie make a great addition to this. SO excited to see it |
||||
| Matthew |
YOU GUYS. I'M SO EXCITED. HOLY SHIT.
| actor |
Wasn't Blithe Spirit supposed to be (and billed as) Lansbury's last Broadway show?
Not that I'm complaining! I would seriously fly all the way over to New York just to see this gold. I'm sure Zeta-Jones' Send in the Clowns will be stunning - even if she is about a decade too young for the role. |
||||
| Matthew |
Angela and Steeeve sitting in a tree.
And people need to shut up about her being "a decade too young." She's not. Logistically, she's the correct age. |
||||
| actor |
Desiree is described as an 'aging actress'.
| Matthew |
The age of a late to early 1900s aging actress ≠ Today's age of an aging actress.
| actor |
And what, in the early 1900s, was the age in which an actress was classed as 'aging'? [mod edit - no name calling please]
| Matthew |
Younger than it is now. Early 20th Century Lifespan was 30-40 years. So... |

Remember, though, age is not a number, it is a state of mind . . .
Anyway, for me it's not Catherine or Angela that makes this production exciting, although they are certainly a plus. For me it's the show itself. I have never had the chance to see it live, let alone live on Broadway. (By the way, did they mention when the show is supposed to open? Maybe I missed something?) I wonder who else they will get to flesh out the cast. I just a video of Danny Gurwin playing Henrik. Any thoughts? |
||||
| Matthew |
I doubt Danny would play Henrik again. He just signed a job teaching at my old high school. Not to mention he's approaching 40.
| Damask and Dark |
I would love to see this! But I won't be anywhere near NYC either... |
||||
| Matthew |
Is the rest of this cast yet? Please?
Guesses anyone? I doubt they'd ask Jacoby to play Frederick again. He was great though. |
||||
| Felix Felicis |
The strong rumour was Aaron Lazar for Carl-Magnus...
| Matthew |
Don't know how I feel about that. Don't know if he's comedic enough.
| Matthew |
I originally wanted Carol Channing to play Mme.
| what_the_heck013 |
I feel like Anne and Henrick, if cast with unknowns, could jumpstart the careers of two young actors.
As for Fredrick, perhaps Brian Stokes Mitchell? |
||||
| Matthew |
I think he's far too dark to be Swedish.
| ilovebway |
Henrik is in fact being played by an unknown, Hunter Herdlicka. He's a kid that just graduated from CMU this year. As for Anne, last I heard, was supposed to be played by Ramona Mallory. She was Luisa in The Fantasticks, I believe. |

Considering that this show isn't about race... I don't think it really matters. At any rate, I don't think Brian Stokes Mitchell's personality would be right for the role. Jeremy Irons should be Fredrik!! |

Holy shit I'm peeing in my pants.
| Brock07 |
I'm surprised this hasn't been moved to the Sondheim forum, as it seems some people and mods are on another newfound kick to move breaking musical news to the show's respective forums. But on topic, not as exciting as news of Bernadette being in it, but I really really really really hope that this is true! |
||||
| Salome |
agreed!!! |
||||
| emmy05 |
It is set to be in early December - (this was leaked to the post no official announcement has been made yet) so we don't have any guarntee it will happen. |
||||
| Dots Parasole |
