Angel/CollinsI've always felt that hwen Angel finds Collins, he automatically falls in love with him. Yet, I feel Collins isn't quite sure. "...but my friends are waiting..." Is he resisting Angel?
A friend of mine once believed that Collins wasn't attracted to Angel at first... I believe that to be true.
Any thoughts?
Andy.

interesting. See, I never thought of it as Collins 'resisting' Angel. I think Jesse Martin once said that Angel was his character's first real love, so I think Collins was a little bit afraid, you know?

I think he was unsure at first but then fell in love

Collins is a little bit afraid, which is what makes him hesistant. He also probably doesn't want to just bail on Mark and Roger. It could also be that Collins is playing a little hard to get. It's definitely not for lack of attraction because usually even the audience can feel the attraction when he says, "Angel? Indeed...An angel of the first degree."

hmm
i dont really think he is resisting nor is he unsure
they only just met so hes not trying to resist love because quite frankly how could he love angel and vice versa they JUST met
( i think rent is too profound a musical to use love at first sight as a form of love, in rent, love has to be earned )
collins is probably just thinking exactly what he ses- my friends are waiting, it wud be rude not to explain where i have been
obviously collins attraction to angel overrides this want to see his friends lol

What I never really got was if Collins was gay at first. I thought that he just fell in love with Angel, but is he gay?

Yes, he is. At least, that's the general opinion. It's not stated anywhere in the show.

Lol... it was very weird when they started singing "I'll Cover You in One thousand Kisses." I was like... "WAIT! THEY ARE A GAY COUPLE!"

I think you are all confused. Just because Collins isn't acting like the stereotypical gay man you think he isn't gay? That's not true. I think it's unfair that you're thinking that way, just because his sexuality isn't announced right out, it doesn't really mean he's gay? Angel doesn't announce her sexuality anywhere yet you all know she's gay. Does anyone see my point? I'm having a hard time getting this to make sense without ranting toooo much and mixing up my words. Sorry.

I kind of see what you mean, though you do as you say 'mix up your words' a bit
I think, and always have thought, that Collins is gay from the start, and that meeting Angel is just a happy coincidence for a lonely gay man. I think this for several reasons, mainly because he flkirts with Angel when they first meet. A heterosexual man just wouldn't.

I never said that I thought he wasn't. Maybe I misworded MY response , but I've never thought Collins wasn't gay. So, no confusion here. I know that there are none stereotypical homosexuals. Just like there are straight guys who people just swear are gay, because of some stereotypical mannerism they have.

Okay was just making sure everyone got that.
Sorry about messing up my words...
heh I wrote that at 2 AM and I when I'm trying to get a point across I kinda rush and don't think too much about how I'm saying it.
Oh and I also wanted to talk about how Collins is 'resisting' Angel. Well first of all it's New York, and Angel is a total stranger. Would you jump right up and go with a stranger as kind as he may appear. I wanted to say that earlier but I kinda fell asleep lol. But I think we're all past that now.
