an error that i can't get over in rent.

well

1.) roger was an ex addict and in recovery, yet he still drank. ( i know his drug of choice was... meth?? i don't remember....but he still drank).

do ex-addicts drink? i usually thought they would be straight edge and be against any drugs and/or alcohol.

just curious.

plus is drinking the best thing to be doing when ur HIV positive? doesn't it depress the immune system further?

It was herion. And I don't get it. What does Roger being on withdrawel and him drinking haveing any connection to one another? I think your going on the whole fact that they are/can harmful to you.

Why wouldn't they? And why would they be agiesnt drugs and achohol? Yes they know it can harm them and it did. But if they where a druggie they might be more for it. Becuase there going thourh withdrawel.

I'm still a bit confused on what your asking here. I mean why would they not drink? As the opressing(sorry if I used the word in the wrong context) the immune system I really doubt it. I mean it can't be good for you. But it's not good for anyone.

I'm sorry I'm just rather confused to what your question is.

Maybe if his drinking and using were related, but there aren't any indications that they were.

He's over 21. He's allowed to drink.

Yes, drug addicts=/=alcoholics

(I know Alcohol is a drug but save the technicalities please Razz)

There is no evidence that moderate drinking (a unit or two of alcohol a day) does any harm to people with HIV.

Not all addicts going through withdrawl amd recovery abstain from everything. Most will continue to drink - a lot of ex addicts of hard drugs that I know still smoke pot. Its just Roger's way of coping.

Why wouldn't he drink? Withdrawl is hard, especially from heroin. It's one of the hardest - the alcohol might have eased the pain for him.

As for it being bad for him; I don't think Roger was exactly gung-ho to live. Think about it. You lose your girlfriend and find out your dying in one day. Yiu then struggle with depression, withdrawls - most would drink too.

It wasn't an error.

If you don't mind me bringing up another issue of the show (since the title could work for my little miff too), what do you all think of having Mimi "re-awaken" at the end? Personally, I think that if you base something off of something else, the characters who die in one should be the characters who die in the other. Thoughts?

Jonathon was adament about keeping Mimi alive - while Rent is based of La Boheme, he wanted it to be about life, and not death. Having Mimi come back doesn't change too much - in all honesty, she probably doesn't last much longer.

I agree, I hate it - not so much because it's different to La Boheme, but because it just looks like a cop-out. I do understand Larson's reasons, however.
