am i too old?

A community theater near me is having auditons for the sound of music and I may be a super freak in saying that Louisa has always been my favorite. The only problem is I am 17...but there is good news I like younger than I am as long as my chest isn't considered and I am only 5 foot...I may have to lie though to be allowed to auditon for the role...is it worth is or should I just audition for a nun?

what about leisel? the kids are annoying but you get more stage time.

Most directors consider height more important in picking the kids than actual age. I've seen many productions where the actress playing Liesl is in her mid-20's, so why not a 17 year old Louisa? I say go for it!

Height and ability to act the age is more important than your real age.

Yea seriously! Go for it...leisel is one of my favorite characters too

leisel is one of the best parts in the whole show. other than maria.

whatever you do, don't lie about your age....there's no point.

Definitely don't lie about your age. A big thing with this play..in my theater anyway...was the height thing. And they basically based it on me. I played Louisa and I guess they cast me first and tried to work around me. If you're great for the part, they might do that for you too. Go for it. Or maybe talk to the directors to see what they think.
