I'm auditioning soon for Oklahoma, and I want to audition for Laurey, if i'm right for her.
I have a fairly high soprano range, but its kinda twangy/character-y souding
I'm 5'9", not pale, not tan, dirty blond wavy hair thats 6 inches longer than shoulder length, i'm skinny but with a good sized chest.
I'm 16, but its at a youth/teen community theatre.
What do you think?

You say that you have a slighty "twangy" voice? I am not a theatre expert, but I'd say that, depending upon how you style your "twangy" voice, character-wise, you could audition for either the role of Laurie OR the role of Ado Annie.

In the stage version of "Oklahoma", Laurey is a sassy tomboy, and she's not really afraid of much in the world. I think that Laurey's voice could sport a "twang," because she's a country girl who's bold and independent.

Ado Annie is naiive, newly seductive (physically, anyway), and super fickle. She's not a mean tease; she just loves fellas, and she can't seem to make up her mind as to which fella is right for her. Ado Annie's voice could be "twangy," because she's supposed to have a "character voice" anyway. She's a real character, and she provides much of the comedy within "Oklahoma". She gets to argue with Will Parker, behave flirtatiously towards Ali Hackim (without intending to upset her boyfriend Will), and explain her plight to her father with hillarity. She should be a fun character to play.

Yeah, I think i'm actually going to audition for Ado Annie
The people i've seen belt her part though.
I do belt, and fairly well, but i'd rather audition for a mezzo/soprano part.
What do you think?

Dear Elphaba22,

I think that you should audition for whichever role feels more comfortable, appropriate, etc., for you.

If you think that you'd really love to belt out those Ado Annie notes, go for the role of Ado Annie. If you'd be more comfortable trying out for the role of Laurey, then go for that role.

You could try out for both roles, and then you'll have the chance to get either one of them.
