All Liesl's report here!

Hello! I'm playing Liesl in the Sound of Music at a theater near Seattle.

If you are playing Liesl in any production around the world, this is the forum for you! We can share input on character detailing, roleplay as Liesl herself, tips for costuming, and just have fun with our well-earned roles!

Any thoughts to build off of?
LiLy15

hey! i'm auditioning for Leisl in about a week. I've always wanted to play her, so i'm really nervous. I need to pick between two songs... either Till There Was You, or It Might As Well Be Spring. If anyone has any thoughts about that, let me know. I've chosen my monologue..it's from Diary of Anne Frank.

This is for a community theatre production, so i'm hoping if i don't get Leisl, i could be Louisa maybe. Anyways, I'll keep everyone updated.
Gavroche Girly

Oh yes! You messaged me earlier about your audition song!

Both of the songs you mentioned seem great...whichever one shows more personality would probably be best.

Your monologue seems neat! I'd love to see some of it.

Good luck, and definitely keep us posted!! Very Happy

I've never actually played the role (I'm not even an actor *gasp!shock*), but I just wanted to let you both know the character's name is Liesl. Sorry if it sounds petty, but I like the character so much, it was troubling me to see her name spelt wrong.
Gavroche Girly

Thank you so much! I feel very silly having spelt it wrong....

You've saved me lots of humiliation in the future! Looking around my profile, I spelled it that way a couple of times...I was super mixed up!

Thanks again!

Glad I could help.

Ooo! I am so excited.

I started working on Sixteen going on Seventeen yesterday.

I'm taking a very infatuated yet innocent approach on this character.

Which monologue from Anne Frank are you doing?

I've done Sound of Music twice once playing Brigitta and the other time playing chorus roles. The girl who played Liesal though didn't have the range for the role so it was really interesting to hear her sing it.

the part where Anne says, "Look Peter the sky. What a lovely, lovely day. Aren't the clouds beautiful?" etc.

But I'm cutting out Peter's lines and shortening it a bit.

There are actually monologues in the script itself where you wouldn't have to cut out Peter's lines if your interested.

i auditioned today! i was so nervous and there were a lot of girls there trying for Liesl. I sang Till There Was You, and I think they liked it, and then they had me read for Liesl. They didn't even have me do the monologue!! Now I just have to wait for a callback. Cross your fingers for me! Neutral

oh and while i was singing the one lady was pointing some stuff out and highlighting it to another lady... so hopefully that is a good sign lol.
Sammy_beck

Keep us posted and break a leg
LiLy15

I got a callback! Wednesday at 7:00. They said they'd be testing my range, more reading, and a movement part. And to bring a kerchief for my head. Laughing

I'm excited!
Sammy_beck

Congratulations on your callback
LiLy15

well I went to the callback. It was 4 hours! Ridiculously long for community theatre when there are only about 30 people there. Anyways, they had us dance, which I didn't have a problem with, and then they had us sing Lonely Goatherd, which I do not know for the life of me. That didn't go so well. So the lady called me up to do some exercises and technique with her which went better. We did cold reading, and I was one of the last Liesls to read (there were 8 of us), but then they had me called up again in 1 turn. I'm really not sure what they are looking for, but I was the youngest there, so we'll see what comes of it!
Sammy_beck

Congratulations on the call back

Opening night is this Friday...I am so excited!

The show has really come together nicely.

My costumes are all really pretty....except for the uniform......yikes.

Hehehe!
alexxboyle

good luck on opening night!

How did it go?!!? Mr. Green

Hi there I'm new ^_^ I played Liesl April 2006 and it was probably the best experience in my theatre career. I had the most fabulous time EVER.

I have been looking for fellow "VonTrapps" to fraternize with since the show closed, so I'm happy to be here.
