Aladdin auditions yoHey guys!
After my horrible experince at my last callback I'm wary to start back right away, but here goes nothing! I'm auditioning for Aladdin Jr. and I reeeaaallly want to go for Jasmine. I also think it would be fun to play the genie. Anyone have an information on this show/have played any of the characters before??? Any help would be appreciated.
P.s. I'm thinking of singing Home from Beauty and the Beast. To stick with the Disney theme. Yay or nay???

Now, I'm an amateur, but I'm thinking Disney'll be overdone. ESPECIALLY if it's Aladdin JR.

That's a good point. But that song fits so well into my range. I havn't really been sure about my choice. Oh, and by the way, I'm a mezzo.

Yeah...not so good with the range names...anyways, to keep to the Disney Feel (but not sing Disney) sing something maybe from 'The Wizard of Oz' or 'Cats Don't Dance' (a movie).

What about "PArt of That World" or "Colors of the Wind". Or "Shadowland" from The Lion King. IMO, sing Disney for Disney.

"Part of Your World" and "Colors of the Wind" would be the best suggestions - I don't think "Home" really fits the light, airy tone of the songs in Aladdin. Oh, but make sure you don't sing The Wizard of Oz, everything from that is horribly overdone.

I like the reflection idea. But the guidlines are that we have to sing a song from a broadway show. I figured Beauty woud be the closest Disney thing on broadway. Aida didn't seem to fit the bill.

I think "Home" is just fine! And besides, you seem like you are very confident with the piece in your voice and acting.
I say, GO FOR IT!
It's an excellent choice! I'm not necessarily so sure that a lot of the other girls would have the same idea...(Maybe ask around)
But it IS a high school audition, so that helps!

Yeah, I decided on Home. Because the audition is today  ! Now I'm really nervous. I have 2 more hours to go until I leave!!!
