poor thing. It was the single worst show I ever saw on Broadway. Worase Than Wicked. worse than Legs Diamond.

What is wrong with Wicked??! I love Wicked!
TheProducers

I love Aida. My high school was the first amateur group in the nation to secure the rights.

The only other female lead besides Aida and Amneris is Nehebka who has a solo in "Dance of the Robes".

i actually like aida's music. never seen the show, though.

The show only boasts one good song. "Another pyramid" the rest of the score is just terrible. Elton John can write great pop songs ..but he writes lousy musical theatre.

I thought AIDA was meant to be really good! I might be seeing him (Elton) this summer as I have contacts Razz Can't stand Billy Elliot though and it's meant to be the best musical since sliced bread in Britain today... I beg to differ... Confused

I love the dark, heavy texture of the AIDA score, unfortunately haven't seen the show. It's coming to my city on tour next season though, so we'll see.

I've been watching other schools' videos from this show on you tube, and now I really want to do this show. We're choosing a musical next week for my school so i am going to suggest Aida. I think it looks interesting and unlike the typical high schol show. Any thoughts?

AIDA score would have been better if it hadn't included recognizable bits from Elton's own big hits.

Most obvious one is in Radames's first solo, "Fortune Favors the Brave" when he sings "It's all worked out, my road is clear..." (later in the song also "nothing is an accident...") bits, where the melody is exactly from Elton's hit song "I'm Still Standing".

Not the worst Broadway show ever but it sure wasn't the best either.
