After cats... rats (o/t)I've often seen here pictures of our cats. So I just wanted to introduce here my two little boys ^^
Ratatouille :
Fritz :
And again Fritz, in his typical "don't look at me I'm going to do something forbidden attitude")
Has anyone else rats at home ? Just a little bit of curiosity ^^

I had a rat, when I was eight. But that was a very long time ago. I'd love to get another one, but I think two cats are enough for me.

They're cute! Fritz reminds me of that hamster clip that's floating around--the one where it turns around and suddenly stares in a very Perry-Masonish way.
They wouldn't last long in my house, not with three cats. Sings: "Santa baby, leave the gerbil under the tree..."

Nyawww, Ratties! They make the loveliest small pets - they're so intelligent, and mine always used to recognise me. I had a rat called Rupert who used to sit on my shoulder, under my hair, and whisper into my ear... and the cats never bothered to hunt the rats, they seemed to view them as equals. They were more bothered about eating the rat food!!!

We had four rats at one time... Sprocket, Jemima, Hilly and Saffy. Very very intelligent and quite a lot of fun!

I adore ratties. I had one, Stella, who I adopted from a PetSmart, but she was sick and died shortly after, before I could get her a buddy...heh, and after the incident I, a seventeen-year-old customer, had to point out that the "new batch" of rats they had were on the end of their ropes health-wise. Oh, but Stella was so sweet. It's amazing how quickly they'll bond to you. Though she was named Stella for a reason- she had been pretty freaked out by the car ride on the way home, and so, being the "Over the Hedge" fan I am, named her for the stink, after the skunk in the movie. At least it's a pretty name. She would hide out under my hair on my shoulder, use me as a climbing tree, follow me around, just the greatest little gal.
The rat owners with your own lives or else tolerable parents are incredibly lucky, heh. It'll be a couple of years before I could even hope of adopting (from a rat-devoted rescue or responsible breeder this time around*) them again.
Your little guys are so adorable, Jemima57!

Very cute. I wish I could have some, but I would like to take them out and my cat would kill them.
I do have some hermit crabs, but they are a bit more protected because of their shells. I had one named Munkustrap (his shell was black and silver) but he died. He was the biggest one I had, so that made me mad. Lol.

My sister had a solid grey/blue mare rat named Rascal when we were younger. I'm currently baby-sitting/rat-sitting two female rats for the summer....Bitsy,a black hooded, and Athena, a chocolate/sable.

I actually enjoy the reactions, especially since they demand to know why the heck I'd get rats. Since it lets me tell them about what great little critters they are. Of course, some people are just set on thinking rats are horrible or disgusting, so sometimes it doesn't do much, but some folks are actually interested. My mom was one of those people who thought they were horrible, but she ended up loving Stella like our other pets.
It has always confused me how people think rats and mice are ugly. I think they're adorable- those bright black eyes, sleek fur, velvety tails and ears, those neat little paws.
