Adult Characters

Hi everyone!

I am a 32 year old female who is short and thick. I know that there are a few adult roles in this show, but aren't familiar enough to know how large the parts are or who to audition for. Any suggestions?

P.S. If you're reading this, Snikers0692, you know who this is.

You can go for Mrs. Macafee

The female lead so to speak in this show is Rose Alvarez. She is the assistant/long time girlfriend-fiance of Albert Peterson. Chita Rivera played her originally I believe.

The next largest part, Adult female wise, is Mae Peterson, who is Albert's extremely overprotective and controlling mother who absolutely cannot stand the thought of Albert and Rose being together. This is a very comedic role and depending on which version you are doing she may have the song "A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore."

There is also Mrs. Macafee. She's Kim Macafee's mother and is a very traditional housewife of this era. She sings along with the rest of the family in Ed Sullivan and with Mr. Macafee in Kids as well as appearing in the Kids Reprise and other numbers throughout the show.

I'm not sure what to suggest for you as it depends on what age you actually look. You could probably pull off Mrs. Macafee and potentially Mae Peterson with proper stage makeup and such. As I've seen productions where she has been played by a woman in her 30's.

..Oh popular, you're not thick and short... you're just big-boned and height-challenged.. Wink

Depending on if they're going to cast the people with his or her real ages (ie. have Kim be 14-16, Rosie late 20's-30's, etc.) you could make a good Mae Peterson or maybe even a Rosie. You're the right age for Rosie, but Mae is probably in her mid-60's ....I don't know that for sure, I'm just guessing.
