Adelaide Audition help

My school's auditions got pushed forward to Jan. 30 opposed to the end of February and i'm not all that prepared. For my song, I was looking at Life of the Party or Raise the Roof from the Wild Party. Do you think those would be good choices? I can learn songs quickly, so any input would help. Also, should i read with an accent during cold readings? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks so much for reading. Smile

another good song for Adelaide would be "Always True To You in My Fashion" from "Kiss me Kate"
Sweeney Hyde

How about "I'm Not at All in Love" from the Pajama Game? The character is in a similar situation as Adelaide and could be very funny...also try "So Long Dearie" from Hello, Dolly!, "Someplace That's Green" from Little Shop of Horrors, "Just You Wait" from My Fair Lady...or any other funny broadway song...

I think "Always True To You In My Fashion" is definitely the best audition song. However, go with something you're comfortable with. For the cold readings, definitely read Adelaide with an accent. Also, volunteer to read for Sarah as well to show the contrast between them and how you can do the accent.

For Adelaide, I think a better song would be "Somewhere Thats Green"From Little Shop or "Hernandos Hideaway" from the Pajama Game. As for the accent, I'd say hold off and see if you got a call back and then i would use the accent.

The cold reading is the call back. the way its set up, we do a one minute song the first day. The second day if you get a callback, is the cold reading. Then the third day is the dance audition. Thanks, everybody, for your input. it really helped alot
