adaptions to time period/setting

I *just* finished doing a local community theatre production of "Pippin."

By all accounts, it was very much a "museum piece." I sat in rehearsals thinking, This musical could be done in so many fun ways... we could set it in WWII, and wear camo during "Glory"... or we could modernize it, and have Pippin as the son of a rock'n'roll superstar...

A fellow cast member remarked that when she did "Pippin" in college, the finale was for Pippin to fry in an electric chair, instead of burning himself.

Has anyone seen/been in/heard of alternative productions of "Pippin"?

The electric chair...hmm...that's an interesting idea.

For our production, we had the burning but there was a trap door. It was so cool!!!

Who were you in Pippin?

why little old me? ;)

I was just a player. We all chose personas (the director is a big fan of the chorus finding their place in a musical), and I decided to be a sexy tease with an evil streak that came out when Pippin wasn't looking - until the finale, when I became too impatient of Pippin's imminent demise. Hahaha...

We had 16 poles to dance/twirl/slide on. Lots of fun! Originally, we were scheduled to take pole-dancing lessons in SF, but we abandoned that idea and did our own thing.

LP and Pippin were both AEA.
