Adaptations in your production?I'm not sure I'd exactly call them adaptations, but in the production I'm working on right now, they've added in a lot of things that I've never seen before.
Things like Pharaoh's son singing the reprise of Song of the King, Joseph tripping and falling on his first entrance of the show [with a ladder being thrown on the floor behind the set, like he knocked it over], and Cheerleaders who follow Joseph around once he gets famous.
I may be forgetting something, but I've never noticed such a difference between produtions of any other show. Is it common for this show?
What fun add-ins have you done for your Josephs?

Yes, we based it on the video but we have some minor changes that fits efficiently in our production.

Locally relevent things work really well in the show.
When a community theatre in my area did it, we were having a lot of local controversy over a "Welcome to (city)"-type sign on the highway (silly, really, but it was complicated and there were a lot of strong feelings going around). So in the first "Jacob and Sons," etc., scenes, they had a copy of the sign onstage, with "Canaan" on it.
Joseph's coat was brought onstage by the wives, packaged in a Nordstrom's box (the store had just closed here and created a panic).
After "Those Canaan Days," the narrators came back with snack-bar items from a local movie theatre. Definitely cute.
I think the reason local things like that work so well is that this show has so much leeway to stick little "bits" in. You can work just about anything in at some point or another in the show, and the show itself is very much about family and community anyway.

I have never personally been in the show but i did see a touring production of it with Patrick Cassidy in it and they did a few thinks like add, a cell phone to the beginning of "Jacob and Sons" and The Pharoh was dressed, and sang like Elvis, definitely funny. ANd a few other little things like recent clothing and whatnot.
