Accompaniment CD

I'm looking to produce Godspell at my school. Here's my dilemma. MTI does not handle the rights in Cananda, Theatre Maximus does and they only have liscense rights to the full version, not the Jr. The Jr. version is the only one that comes with the accompaniment CD, which I need because my school does not have a band or a competent piano teacher, (I think Godspell needs some rocking guitar solos anyways). I found a Godspell karoke CD online, which I'm more than willing to use, but it doesn't have the Finale on it. I'm waiting to solve this dilemma before I pitch it to my principal and vice principal.

I did manage to one up MTI. I requested a perusal copy of Godspell Jr. and it was sent to me in error before someone could catch it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a copy of the entire Jr. Karaoke cd, including the Finale, if you'd like it. Would that work?

The Jr version has strange cuts and different keys. Some of the tunes would be hard to use in a full Godspell. When pocket songs first released their karaoke Godspell, it contained all the songs (minus babble). The later edition cut out Turn back and Finale. The orginal version is the one to find because it uses the backing tracks from the TER/Jay London studio cast recording from the early 90's with Stephen Schwartz on piano.

Godspell karaoke

I have a karaoke cd of GODSPELL that actually has a lot more songs including "Prologue (tower of babel)" "Beautiful City" and "finale".

Use an pit band! I absolutely hate canned music! You only need gutiar, keyboard, and drumset.

There is a new accompaniment CD out that's not bad. It includes all of the songs plus a rendition of "Beautiful City". It's supposed to be the original orchestrations. I've seen it for sale on PocketSongs and at Colony.

Godspell accompaniment cd

Yep. I own that one. It is pretty good. It even has the "Finale".

Andrew G, I don't know if you're still around, but you've been misinformed. I've done three completely legal Jr. shows, and I live in Canada.

If anyone needs backing tracks, please PM me. I can help you locate what you may need.

I have the following versions:

Pocket Songs (Original Version on Cassette) Contains all songs from the score except Prologue or Beautiful City) This version is the most faithful to the original score

Pocket Songs on CD - same as above but minus Turn Back and Finale

Godspell Junior - Much different arrangements in many cases, some songs abridged and in lower keys. No Prologue, Turn Back or By My Side.

Stage Stars Karaoke CD _ All songs, but back up band not as tight as I'd like, but still a workable version.

I also have midi file versions of the Prologue and the 1973 movie version of Beautiful City that are passable and could be used if needed.

The original Pocket Songs cassette was the best overall, and it featured Stephen Schwartz on piano.

godspell jr. karaoke

I know this is an old post but, I was just wondering where I could get the Godspell Jr. karaoke version. We were hoping to perform "All for the Best" for a cabaret-type performance at an elementary school I work at. I prefer the "jr" version for that purpose.
