Aagh! I'm going to cry.

I just had an audition for a pop singers group at my school.
Long story short: I didn't have a song prepared, I had a song in mind and realized (in front of him,) that I didn't know all the words. (I sang America the Beautiful to the teacher's annoyance, he was annoyed when he suggested it--) I fall into the alto range, and I can't sight read for crap. I'm going to cry. I'm a senior and this was my last chance for this. Crying or Very sad
My only chance at all is that I'm a senior, (seniority) and my range. (2 and a half octaves apparently.)
I hate this.

Bad auditions happen to good people...seriously...

I had a tea commercial audition last night that I was kinda rushed into. I didn't even get a chance to breathe...

And I didn't take the time to ask where they wanted my focus to be...so I was all over the place...It didn't help that the sides were AWFUL! LOL!

"It's excellent...It has a rich, soothing aroma. Not like coffee which keeps me awake and gives me the jitters."

LOL!

Next time this happens, do "The Star-Spangled Banner" instead of "America the Beautiful". Especially for a pop audition, you can improv and make it sound all pop-ey.

He had a thing on the sign up list for auditions that said: Sing a pop song prefferably in jazz style.
so here's me:
Shocked Question
He usually has people do America the Beautiful, it's the song he preffers.
Star Spangled Banner. WHY didn't I think of that?!?

I'm singing Stranger to the Rain for my next audition though, so...
heh heh heh...it's for a Christmas show. The company had that song on a list they wanted us to pick from to sing for the audition. So problem solved there!

I'll keep an update on the pop audition. The list should be up in a few days.

Maybe I missed somthing; is there a reason you didnt have a song prepared? There is Probably a good reason. Since its a long story. I know it sucks, but making sure you are prepared is a big step in auditioning. I went to a very competitive audition recently where everyone came prepared. (which rarely happens) I Never saw acasting director with such tough choices. It was fun to see him stress out for a change. I digress.

I hope all goes well. Popsinger groups are definently fun.

...well, I didn't make it in. I was pretty much expecting that.
The audition was at 8:10 in the morning and I had just gotten back from another thing the night before. I knew what song I was going to sing, but didn't quite know all the words. (I knew the tune very well, and most of the words.) I would've looked it up but I don't have a computer. And the library's far away.
I'm in a state of down and out. I'm usually not picked/cast for things like this, if I'm picked at all.

Sorry to hear that. Rejection always sucks. But Jazzy is right, bad auditions happen to everyone, so don't get too down on it. Just use this as a learning experience, so that the next time you are in a similar situation, you will be more prepared, and knock the director's socks off!
