A Little Night Music

I absolutly love the music to this show and would love to see it.

Does anyone know about a dvd of the show or if there will be a revival anytime soon?

I know that there is a movie version of the show on dvd but i heard it wasnt very good. Is that true?

Thanks for your help!

I know there was a recent revival when I was looking for music from it...my friend made me a copy of the OLC but it doesn't work Sad...but I think there was a revival in London a couple years ago, but do not quote me.

there is a PBS Great Performances recording of it which is absolutely FABULOUS. there's also a "real" movie starring len cariou (great) and liz taylor (sick no) which is really not good at all. poor direction and transfer from stage to film.

definitely get your hands on the GP show though. it's amazing.

love all

Though it's FAR from ideal, it's better than it's reputation.

The movie isn't really that bad. It's follows the stage show almost exact. It's just missing several songs.

It could've been much better. But I'll take what we got. The cast is great.

SOME of the cast is reat (Diana Rigg,Len Cariou,Laurence Guitard and Hermone Gingold) the rest are weak (Lesley anne Down,Christopher Guard,Leslie Dunlop) and Liz Taylor is awful beyond belief.

Agreed 100%.

While we're on the topic...does anyone know why they changed the setting?

(I am thinking of the right film right?)
Salome

because they shot on location in Vienna.

Her "I frequently laugh myself to sleep contemplating my own future" alone is worth the price of the DVD.

I was under the impression it's because they though Vienna would suit the waltz idiom better?

^That's interesting...about Vienna and the Waltz...I think it fits perfectly in it's original setting though...oh well!

It does, so the re-setting is rather unnecessary, in addition to take away the sense of perpetual sunset.
