A Complete Video of My Production! Please don't abuse it, it was put up not only for the cast but for resources for costume ideas etc.
Enjoy!
207.34.123.25 -- that's all you type in to the browser. No .com's or www's. Just the numbers.
I played a Villager and I was a tray-carrier in Be Our Guest. My letter in BOG was 'I' (watch it -- you'll understand).
The first scene and all of the other scenes that aren't in the castle don't look very good because the scrim came down in front of the big castle set, so don't shut it off the second you see our ugly village!!
This was a non-profit community production. The actors are normally between the ages of 8 and 19, but for our 25th anniversary, we invited back some graduates who played various parts.
I hope you enjoy the production. Hours of work went into it so please respect the website -- it's copyrited!
Comments, critiques and questions are most definately welcome!

What was the budget on this production?
|
Luc
|
I'm not quite sure. As I said, it was a community production. The beginning scene -- and all of the scenes that don't take place in the castle -- are really ugly because the big castle set is behind the scrim.
It was farely low-budget, I presume.

A page should come up that says:

Friday, January 13, 2006 12:17 pm [*link here*] better

Click on any of the links....the first one is best, the second one is okay, and the third one is good (quality-wise). It works fine for me! [/b]

i had a few problems with Best bc it kept timing out, and i finally got Better but it skips ALOT and is very pixely.
is Best clearer and worth the time and taskbar space to download?
Your set and cast is great! (minus that Gaston is a STiCK but still good )
At first we had a very very simalure set design, but we wanted our set to be more enchanted like and built one that we moved alot and lookied just as nice.
|
Luc
|
Yeah our Gaston and Lefou and D'arque were all terrible.
|
Gazelle
|
umm... i-i didn't s-say that... *cough*
From what i've seen so far (up until 'i'll give you a place to stay') your Belle is good, you Lumiere is great but should have been just a bit more flambo, Cogs is good, and...i can't really tell on Beast yet. is he wearing a mask?

im enjoying this... apart from gaston, hes irritating!

Must be just me then, did just the numbers in my browser and nothing comes up.......
|
Gazelle
|
Aww...that sucks
Will 'better' went fairly easy, but i can't for the life of me, get 'best' to stop timing out or just freezing!!!
There better be a huge difference for all this trouble!

My thoughtsIt is great that you provided this to everyone. Shows how it can be done. I downloaded and watched it yesterday. My comments below are simply my opinion...
Set - your set is amazing! Great job!
Tempo - Seems a little rushed in places. Works sometimes, but mostly made me a little anxious.
Choreography - Very well done. I like it alot.
Costumes - Most were very good. Some of the villagers didn't look like it fit the period.
Acting/Singing - First the good - Belle was very good. Beast's singing was outstanding, but his acting was somewhat forced. The primary enchanted objects were good, but again, pacing seemed somewhat rushed. Maurice was good. For the bad - Gaston was awful! His singing was terrible, and his skinny body didn't do justice to the character. He tried with his characterization, but it just reminded me of a little kid acting like a big man. Lefou was also bad, and couldn't sing. D'Arque reminded me of Steve Martin's Wild and Crazy Guy.
All in all a very good show, and I am sure that your audiences loved it. Please don't take my comments above as criticism - they are just observations. I actually open this Friday as Beast in a community theater production, and actually stole a couple of ideas from yours.
Again, well done!

Ohhhhh.....I'm so sad! It downloaded but I can't watch it for some reason. But thanks for putting this up here for others

I'm glad you all liked it!!! Our Beast is most definately not wearing a mask. Make-up took about 45 minutes, and on days with two shows he had to sit in the greenroom all day long. Our first show would normally be at 11:00 because it was for schools, and he would have to sit there until our 7:30 show!! lol Poor him.
Yeah our Gaston is pretty bad. It should be interesting seeing him in Narnia...he plays Aslan - the opera lion.
Did you think it was stupid having the ugly black scrim come down for all of the scenes not in the castle? Cause I think so......grrrrr
Be Our Guest was fabulous, I have to admit. How did you find it? Our Carpet was the best thing in the world!!
Oh, and the Tray Carrier "I"!!! lol

That was an exellent production! I really liked a lot of it, and it kept me entertained. My only complaint would probably be Gaston and the ending was rather rushed. Great work though
Oh yeah - I can't WAIT to see Gaston as Aslan gone Pavarotti

thats really good.
the girl who plays belle can sing.
i love the castle set!!!!!
|
Luc
|
Yeah the castle set was so much fun to perform on! It was really a shame when they had to strike it....
Interesting fact: a lot of the costume pieces were found in dumpsters. There's a thrift shop next to the rehearsal hall, so the costume designer went digging through the garbage and found random things. Some things include Mrs. Pott's Spout and Hat and Lumiere's Candles (we added the lights, of course). It just goes to show that anything you can get your hands on works for this show!!

Question: What does the Be our Guest ending spell? I can't read the writing!
|

|
Wow, that was amazing... you're Belle and Beast were amazing... was that her child at the end? If so, she was probably one of those alum u talked about before... thank you so much! Was the beast at the end a different person or how did you do the transformation?
Thank you again!
|
Luc
|
Prince: different person
Baby: a different alumus' baby - he was in the opening number (this was the last show, so Belle bowed with him - he was wearing little beast horns )
BOG: it says "bienvenue"
I'm glad you all liked it!

just finished watching it. it was great! my favorite was the mob song, i'm not quite sure why cause its the creepiest part of the show.
Have to mention, though, gaston bragging about his muscles when he was really thin was almost unintentionally hilarious, but he pulled it off. kinda

I tried to put something similiar to that up (and its quite a nice production btw) and I got blown in to MTI...so be very careful.
I also only was sharing for the cast and for other people to get costume/choreo ideas etc.
Though I think it was someone who lived near me who turned me in that had a personal vengeance against me-because the site could never have been traced to me personally.
Just be careful about sharing!

Give a little of the flamboiancy of gaston to Lumierre and your good to go. Was there a real pit in this one or a recprding. If it was you had a very nice pit. Your chorus was excellent. It seemed like your leads paced alot. Alot of stuff seemed rushed to me. Alla in all it was pretty decent show.

Why do you say that about Lumiere? I thought he was awesome! I thought he was BETTER than the current Broadway one (can't remember name)!!

Belle's voice is beautiful as is the Beast's. Mrs. Potts does a wonderful job with "Tale as Old as Time". Lumiere does a good job with his solos.
The costumes are decent but I'm not to found of the Silly Girl costumes, and some of the other costumes don't match the period. Belle's yellow dress is okay.
The acting is decent in most places. Belle and Beast both seem somewhat forced in thier acting.
And Gaston, M. D'Arque and Lefou just weren't good they were off vocally and their acting seemed to be forced.
The majority of time the singing and the harmony was good but the timing was rushed on a few of the songs including "Be Our Guest", "Human Again", and "Belle".
The choreography was inovative for "Be Our Guest" but I didn't get the ending, but then again it's a little hard to see what the letters said.
Babette was okay but I didn't care for her accent or her costume at all. She didn't seem to match her character.
I was very found of Cogsworth either but then again my Dad played Cogsworth and was amazing at it.
Lumiere was pretty good vocally but I wish he was a little more flamboyant.
Maurice is pretty good too. His acting seems pretty realistic.
All of the colors seemed to be very muted which mean that none of the characters really stand out.
Silly Girls were good vocally the majority of the time their were times when they were off key a little bit, and their acting was very good. I could definitly believe they were silly but I wish they would have played it up a little bit more.
Overall a decent performance. It seemed like the audience really liked it so that is really what matters.

I think that your Belle had a beautiful voice. Lumiere was perfect beyond belief for me, so I'm going to be hoping ours is this great. Mrs. Potts, she was different than what I expected somehow, but she did a wonderful job.
The choreography in Human Again bored me though. I was expecting something cooler for such a good song. Maurice was excellent and so were the silly girls.
I guess my only complaints are the lack of dancing in Human Again, your Gaston+Lefou. All in All a very good performance.

I really appreciate everybody's constructive criticism, and I also love hearing all of the good things about the show!
But also remember that it is much more different to see it live. But I agree with 90% of you!

For our very first performance, that was the best part. The first performance (before opening, kind of like a preview) was for a schools who all came to the theatre. They went nuts when they kissed! The house just came down at that moment!! It was such a good feeling to know that they appreciated the show!

Why do you say that about Lumiere? I thought he was awesome! I thought he was BETTER than the current Broadway one (can't remember name)!! | He had alot of good sparks of it. But overall I didnt think he carried it all the way through. He was better then Gaston by far. I just thought it was funny that your gaston was more Flamboyant then your Lumierre. I wouldnt say he was better than the broadway though. I felt he was a good CT Lumierre.

Do you mind if I ask where/how that is hosted? I have a production of something I'd like to post, but I'm not sure how to host it (without putting it on youtube or something.)

well, musical, I finally downloaded it...that's the good news. The bad news is that I only get the audio, so I can hear but not watch. *wails!* I can say that it definitely SOUNDS good so far, and I'm only at the end of "Belle" now. =)

I must have done something wrong, because whenever I put those numbers in my address bar, it pulls of this thing for Fur Coat - Edmonton, Albert, Canada and stuff with pictures of furniture. Help?

Luc

Just copy and paste the numbers from the orginal post into your browser to make sure that they're correct. Also, remember that there are now "www."s or ".com"s or anything. It seems to be working for everyone else.
