A Christmas Carol (Broadway) infoHey all, so our school's winter show this year is Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, the 1994 Menken/Ahrens show.
I searched and found only one post related, and it was about "Scrooge" which I am pretty sure is an entirely different musical, am I wrong? Googled the show and all I seem to come up with for info is the MTI synopsis.
Wondering if anybody's done this show before and can give me a rundown of preferred characters, songs, etc. I'm a flexible guy that will probably be given whatever character the teachers want me in be it a lead or just a character part, but I'd like to hear what other people enjoyed either playing or seeing.
Thanks in advance.

its terrible. the better choice would have been 'Scrooge" by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

Okay so it's terrible. Why?

the songs do not capture the flavor of Dicken's world, the lyrics are inane. the music seems quite out of placei n the victorian era. its anachronistic in its script.
"Scrooge" is a much stronger adaptration of A Chistmas Carol" for the stage.

yes, but is "Scrooge" the Menken/Ahrens version that Sak was asking about. I'm pretty sure that the Kelsey Grammer version is.

I really enjoy the movie version of "A Christmas Carol" and do not think it is the least bit terrible! The songs are very moving, and I think they add a lot to the story. I'd be excited to be doing this show! Good luck!

Yes the film starring Kelsey Grammer as Scrooge is the musical that we are doing. Musical slamming aside, is there anything I can go off of that might be at all helpful?
