9.9.07 some commentsSaw the show this past Sunday evening (not a double show day). Abysmal. Granted the deader than dead audience didn't help, but that ain't no excuse for the travesties onstage.
Brenda started off strong with (a slightly riffed) ATJ. After that, forget it. Walking through the lines, giving them the oddest of pacing choices, and infusing absolutely no life into anything. It's okay to take the night off and give one of your three understudies a night on.
Tracy Shayne as Roxie; couldn't tell ya a thing about her character. A generic performance. I just kept thinking, who cares? She did fall flat on her bum right before "Gun," so perhaps that's what threw off the rest of her performance.
Rob Bartlett was a shadow of his former self. Again, what was up with the pacing? Trucks could've been driven through the pauses.
EJY on as Billy...a little femme. But solid job. Adriane Lenox as Mama...fine vocals, but her voice lacked the oomph and sheer powers of others.
Gabby Garcia, fantastic Entr'acte solo. Some new faces in the male ensemble...always appreciated.
A disappointing evening.
