I posted this on another thread, but here it is again. I worked on the non-eq tour that just finished, and here is what I know:
As for the future of the show- our tour was Non-equity, but the original producers are taking the show back out full union starting in November from what I hear. It was/is possible that the company I worked for (Troika Entertainment) will have the show for a few months before November and send it out Non-Eq in order to pick up some shows we had to cancel, but that is only a possibility. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but I would bank on the Union tour happening, as the NYC casting people were looking at our actors very closely. I remember finding a booking for Phoenix for Jan 2009, also.
Personally, I think it's a bad idea to take the show to A and B markets again. The reason our little tour did so well was that we played markets that had never seen the show, and the touring company was one of the most dedicated group of people I've worked with and gave an incredible show every night. I'm the only one that saw all 120 shows, so trust me when I say every one was a winner. The larger union show has played-out most of the major markets (movie or not) and the show should stay non-eq and play places where it can still make money.

I agree with you that sending out another Equity tour is not a good idea. The movie was several years ago. People have moved on.
Unless the producers can get a "big" star for the tour, Chicago is so yesterday's news.
On the other hand, the Mamma Mia movie is going to be reviving interest in that tour.

well, it did help i think when the show came to Macomb Center for Performing Arts in Clinton Twp, MI. their shows are a lil cheaper than the bigger tours in detroit, so Im sure it afforded more people to attend - such as myself, but i'd pay the full price to see it anyplace.
