2 Questions

Hi, I've two questions about this fantastic musical:

1. Is there rights to allow school productions to take place? Or any liscence that our school can get hold of?

2. How many recordings are there? Is there a larger recording than the one I have: The one with half Lion King / Half Elton John.

Thank you!

I don't think so and God I don't hope so. That'd be dreadful with those costumes.... Ew. Mad

Lol, suppose. But for, like, older schools... Our school would be able to put on a brilliant production (set-wise), and vocally. We're coming up to the last week of Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia", and the set and costumes are just phenomenal. Really authentic - we got the costumes off the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), and we bought literally a whole new set.

I was just curious, but anyway, thank you.

I doubt the rights for this show will be available for amateur productions for quite some time. It's still way too popular/touring all over.

Do you have the original broadway cast recording? If not, that would be bigger than the recording you have. It has 20 songs on it.

I think the rights might have been released because I remember watching Stars in Their Eyes once and they had a teacher on it who's school had just done Lion King and his students said he kept singing Hakuna Matata. So, I don't think the school would do it illegally and then announce it on TV.

That sounds like someone knew someone who knew someone...I know the rights aren't available for The Lion King like they are for Beauty and the Beast or Aida; from MTI BTW
TLKbroadway

There's the OBC and then the German, Japan, and Netherlands cast recordings.

Are there any more musical script sellers other than MTI?
Tovers

^^

They don't sell the scripts...

There are other companies that hold the production rights for musicals.. if that is your question - Like R&H and Samuel French

Sorry, I didn't mean scripts. I meant the rights etc. But you know what I mean.
